| Emotional intelligence is the ability of individuals to perceive,understand and express emotions,use emotions to promote thinking,regulate emotions to promote the maturity and development of emotions.Emotional intelligence plays a very important role in the process of individual development and socialization,which has an important impact on individual mental health and interpersonal relationship.The senior stage of primary school is in the early adolescence,students’ emotions change rapidly and lack of understanding of emotions,so they are in urgent need of knowledge and methods such as emotion regulation and emotion management.Therefore,it is necessary to carry out exploratory research on improving pupils’ emotional intelligence at this stage.Psychological counseling is a kind of activity course carried out according to the age characteristics and development needs of students,and it is also a form of group counseling.Its basic nature is "activity course" and "developmental group guidance".Psychological counseling is an important and unique way of school mental health education,which can meet the psychological needs of all students’ development,promote the positive development of all students’ psychological quality,and prevent and solve the adaptability problems and developmental crisis of teenagers.It is an important content of current school mental health education to develop emotional intelligence theme psychological counseling courses and intervene emotional intelligence of primary school students.Therefore,aiming at the development characteristics of primary school students,this study designed a psychological counseling program with emotional intelligence theme,and explored the intervention effect of the program on primary school students’ emotional intelligence.The research is divided into two parts,the first is to design emotional intelligence theme psychological tutorial program.The program is based on Mayer and Salovey’s theory of emotional intelligence and the basic principles of psychological tutorials,and is designed for eight class hours.The second study was an intervention study.Two classes in grade five of a primary school were used as experimental class and control class respectively.The experimental class students were treated with the program designed in study 1 for eight weeks,while the control class students were not treated with any treatment.After the intervention,students in both classes were posttested and the results of the intervention were evaluated.The intervention results were as follows:(1)After the completion of the intervention,students in the experimental class were significantly improved in both the total score of emotional intelligence and the score of the sub-dimensions of emotional perception,other people’s emotional management and emotional utilization.The score of self-emotion management dimension increased,but the difference did not reach the significant level.(2)The total score of emotional intelligence,emotional perception,self-emotional management and emotional utilization of students in the control class showed no significant difference in posttest scores compared with the pretest.The score of other people’s emotion management in posttest was significantly higher than that in pretest.(3)The total score of post-test emotional intelligence and the scores of each dimension in the experimental class were significantly higher than those in the control class.(4)The analysis results of the classroom feedback form show that most students have a high evaluation of this emotional intelligence psychological counseling course.Students feedback that they have gained a way to manage their emotions during learning,and their emotions are more positive and stable.Conclusion:(1)The design of emotion-themed psychological counseling course scheme is systematic and effective;(2)Emotion-themed psychological counseling has an obvious promoting effect on improving the emotional intelligence level of primary school students.Educational Suggestions:(1)Schools should attach importance to emotional intelligence education of students;Emotional intelligence education is carried out in various forms;Integrate all teachers into the emotional intelligence education team.(2)Parents should uphold the educational philosophy of all-round development;Actively understand and learn the relevant knowledge of emotional intelligence;Give your child more attention and support. |
