This study adopts the Emotional Intelligence Scale(EIS)translated by Wang Caikang from South China normal University and Social Anxiety Scale(IAS)developed by Leary,to investigate the present situation of emotional intelligence and social anxiety of 600 junior high school students in two middle schools in Shijiazhuang City.In combination with the theory of group counseling and related techniques,a group counseling program suitable for junior high school students to improve their emotional intelligence was designed.Which in order to intervene the emotional intelligence of junior high school students,and then alleviate their social anxiety.The study one focused on the emotional intelligence and social anxiety of junior high school students to explore the characteristics of emotional intelligence and social anxiety and the correlation between the two.The results showed that:(1)There were differences in demographic variables of emotional intelligence of junior high school students,among which emotional intelligence(Emotional perception,self-emotion management,others' emotional management,emotional use)of pjunior high school students had significant differences in only students,class cadres,places of origin of students,parents' education level,and there were significant differencesonly in others' emotional management in gender;The social anxiety of junior high school students also had significant differences in gender,only students,class cadres,places of origin of students,and parents' educational level.(2)There was a significant negative correlation between dimensions of Emotional Intelligence of Junior High School students(Emotional perception,self-emotion management,others' emotional management,emotional use)and social anxiety,and the two dimensions of emotional perception and self-emotion management in emotional intelligence had a significant negative predictive effect on social anxiety.The study two used the experimental group control group before and after the test design,in which the experimental group of 30 junior high school students,the experimental group for eight weeks of group counseling,and then the two groups ofsubjects for post-test.The results showed that:(1)In post-test scores,the emotional intelligence and social anxiety of the experimental group and the control group were significantly different,the level of emotional intelligence of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group,and the level of social anxiety was significantly lower than that of the control group.(2)The post-test of emotional intelligence in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the pre-test,and the level of social anxiety was significantly lower than that of the pre-test.There was no significant difference in emotional intelligence and social anxiety level between pre-test and post-test in the control group.Therefore,it could be concluded that emotional intelligence training could help to alleviate the social anxiety of junior high school students.
