Homework is one of significant parts in teaching and learning.School has been attaching importance to the quality of assignment design.Driven by the new curriculum reform and policy,homework has to change.Then inquiry homework comes into being.In order to develop the core quality of students and strengthen the connection between mathematics and life,it is essential to pay attention to the exploratory homework of primary school mathematics from the perspective of life education theory.However,at present,there are not too many researches on elementary school mathematics inquiry homework design.Meanwhile,the existing researches are not systematic and lacking the standardized process or the specific operation.In this study,we use literature research,interview method,and case study method to study the design and implementation of exploratory work in elementary school mathematics from the perspective of life education theory,taking "recognizing larger numbers" as an example.Specifically,this research mainly contains four parts.In the first part,the relevance of life education theory to inquiry-based work in primary school mathematics is analyzed.Firstly,it introduces the basic viewpoints of life education theory in detail.Secondly,this paper introduces the necessity of applying the theory of life education to exploratory work in primary school mathematics from two aspects.For one thing,the fact that mathematics homework is separated from life calls for the theory of life education.For another,the theory of life education helps inquiry homework to give full play to the function of education.Finally,it is clarified that the value of exploratory work in primary school mathematics from the perspective of life education theory lies in developing students’ higher-order thinking,improving their learning initiative and enhancing their overall competence.The second part of this paper is ontology analysis of primary school mathematics inquiry homework from the perspective of life education theory.The exploratory homework of primary school mathematics refers to the homework activities in which students re-understand the relationship between life and mathematics by using,transforming and improving their original life experience to explore and propose solutions in the problem situation related to their life experience.From the perspective of life education theory,the inquiry homework of primary school mathematics has the following characteristics,practicality,process,difference and autonomy.Finally,the paper describes the value of inquiry-based assignments in primary school mathematics under the life education theory which develops students’ higher order thinking,improves students’ learning initiative and enhances students’ comprehensive abilities.The third part describes the specific design and implementation of inquiry-based assignments in primary school mathematics from the perspective of life education theory.Based on the theory of life education,it is necessary to follow the principles of subjectivity,openness,life and interest when designing the exploratory homework of primary school mathematics.From the perspective of life education theory,the process of primary school mathematics inquiry homework design can be divided into analyzing curriculum standards and students.Combined with life,determine the target of exploratory work;Contact with life,looking for exploratory work design points;"Do" as the center,matching the form of work;Pay attention to the experience of "doing",build the operation support;Focus on the "doing" process,design job evaluation six links.In order to better explain how to implement in practice,this study takes "Knowing a larger number" as an example to practice the design process of primary school mathematics inquiry homework and implement the designed case.The fourth part analyzes and reflects on the effect of primary school mathematics inquiry homework from the perspective of life education theory.We can understand the effectiveness of the implementation through students’ works and interviews with students.It is found that completing exploratory homework has good effects such as stimulating students’ interest in math learning,enhancing their ability of deep thinking,improving their general competence and so on.Based on the theory of life education,there are some considerations for designing and implementing assignments.Firstly,it is necessary to use life materials to set enquiry questions.Secondly,pay attention to the design of the inquiry process in relation to the students’ reality.Finally,teachers should see the essence of mathematics and properly deal with the relationship between mathematics and life.
