| Concentration is a non-intellectual factor and an important learning quality.Recent studies related to concentration have found that the number of children with concentration deficits is increasing rapidly, and children with concentration deficits are common from kindergarten to elementary school. The senior kindergarten class children are in the critical period of the transition from kindergarten to elementary school, and it is even more important to cultivate good concentration in young children, which not only helps solve the real problems of the transition from kindergarten to elementary school, but also benefits the lifelong development of young children. Therefore,it is necessary to explore the influence mechanism of young children’s concentration in order to improve their concentration level.Previous studies on young children’s concentration have mainly explored the development of concentration measurement tools, strategies to enhance concentration, and factors influencing concentration, but few studies have explored the factors influencing children’s concentration and their influencing mechanisms from multiple aspects as well as at the micro level of the family system.Through daily observations in kindergarten and literature review, the researchers noted that the home environment greatly influences children’s sense of order and that children who have a good sense of order in kindergarten are more attentive and focused in learning and play. The researcher further focused on the important aspect of home environment in terms of home chaos, envisioning whether children’s sense of order mediates between the two. Thus, the researcher expected to explore the relationship between the three. In this study,a total of 195 senior kindergarten class children from S city were selected for the study, based on the self-prepared " Order Questionnaire for Senior Kindergarten Class Children ",relevant data were collected through questionnaire and observation methods to analyze and study the characteristics of home chaos, sense of order and concentration and the relationship between them. The following conclusions were drawn from this study:(1)The Sense of Order Questionnaire for Senior Kindergarten Class Children was developed with 25 questions which contains three dimensions: organization, rhythm, and awareness of rules. It has good reliability and validity, and is suitable as a research tool to investigate the development of children’s sense of order.(2)The senior kindergarten class children’s home chaos and its three dimensions are all in the low to moderate range, and there are significant differences in annual family income for the three dimensions of home chaos(3)The sense of order of the senior kindergarten class children is at the upper middle level and the development of each dimension is balanced, and there is a significant difference in the annual household income;there is a significant difference in the total score of the sense of order and the two dimensions of organization and sense of rules in terms of whether the children are only children or not.(4)The concentration scores of the senior kindergarten class children are in the upper middle range and there is a significant difference in annual family income.(5)The senior kindergarten class children’s home chaos and its dimensions were significantly and negatively related to concentration in general, but further analysis showed that concentration was at its best when home chaos was at a low to moderate level, while concentration was more negatively affected when home chaos was at a high to moderate level;sense of order was a significant positive predictor of concentration in senior kindergarten class children;and sense of order was a significant positive predictor of concentration in senior kindergarten class children. The senior kindergarten class children ’s sense of order partially mediated the relationship between family noise and concentration.Based on these findings, the following recommendations are made for parents and educators: Firstly, all parties should work together to create a home environment with a low to moderate level of home chaos.Secondly, update the concept of education to promote the development of concentration by fostering a good sense of order in young children.Thirdly, provide children with appropriate concentration training, taking into account the developmental characteristics of children’s concentration. |
