Under the call of the new curriculum reform,the five core competencies of history have not only gradually become the common pursuit of middle school history teachers,but also put forward new requirements for teachers’ teaching and students’ learning.Public historiography is a human-centered concept of historiography,with three major goals: "writing the public,public consumption,and public participation in historical writing",re-examining the relationship between historiography and the public.The teaching of history in middle school is a mode of popular dissemination of historical knowledge,and it is the history education that every young person must receive.The introduction of public history into the teaching of secondary school history is not only conducive to transforming students from spectators of history to participants and knowledge producers of history,but also promotes the cultivation of core literacy.It can also play the function of educating people in the discipline of history.Therefore,how to apply public history to the cultivation of core literacy of history in secondary schools is a problem worth exploring by front-line teachers.The introduction of public history into the teaching of history in secondary schools did not happen overnight.In order to better understand the current status of the application of public history in middle school history teaching,this paper uses surveys,interviews,observations and other research methods to distribute online questionnaires and field interviews in some provincial middle schools in Hainan Province and some municipal middle schools in Haikou City.Practice has further affirmed the positive role of public history in the teaching of history in secondary schools,but it has also found many problems,such as the lack of ability of teachers under multiple jobs,the lack of comprehensive literacy of students under the examination system,and the need to improve the discipline system of public history.Specific problems are analyzed on a case-by-case basis.In view of the current problems,and combined with the training requirements of the five core competencies of middle school history and the front-line education work practice during the internship,corresponding implementation suggestions are put forward.First of all,teachers should create historical situations and provide practical learning guidance;secondly,home-school-community cooperation to create a complementary educational environment;Finally,combined with traditional historiography,guide participation in public history writing,improve students’ participation in learning history,and do middle school history.According to the implementation suggestions,this paper further combines the three major directions of public history with the five core literacies of secondary school history,and provides specific cases in three dimensions,hoping to make deeper thinking for the research of this topic.
