| With the expansion of college enrollment,the number of postgraduate students in school is increasing.As a part of higher education,the number of cross-disciplinary postgraduates is also increasing.The proportion of cross-disciplinary postgraduates in the field of pedagogy is high,and the subject background is also more complex.Their motivation for applying for the exam and their learning status at school are unique,and their learning engagement directly affects the quality of training.The purpose of this study is to comprehensively reveal the student engagement of cross-disciplinary postgraduates in education at the current stage,explore the internal influencing factors and put forward countermeasures and suggestions from the perspective of college enrollment and training in order to promote the student engagement of cross-disciplinary postgraduates in education and further promote the quality of higher education training.This study adopts the method of combining questionnaire survey and interview survey,and the research objects are selected from six normal universities.The questionnaire was compiled with reference to the NSGE and the NSSE-China.The questionnaire investigated student engagement from three dimensions,cognition,emotion and behavior.It was tested to have good reliability and validity.Then,10 representative students were selected from the survey subjects to conduct interviews.The student engagement of cross-disciplinary postgraduates and the internal influencing factors were thoroughly understood.The study found that the overall student engagement of cross-disciplinary postgraduates in education is at a moderate level,with high cognitive engagement and low behavioral and emotional engagement.Compared with uncross-disciplinary master’s degree candidates in education,cross-disciplinary graduates have slightly lower levels of overall student engagement and internal engagement in various dimensions.Within cross-disciplinary postgraduates,there are also differences in student engagement among postgraduates from different types of universities,work experience,and health status.The current problems of cross-disciplinary postgraduates’ student engagement are mainly reflected in three aspects including weak learning planning abilities;indifferent professional emotions;insufficient autonomous learning ability.The researcher starting from the logic of the timing from admission to graduation,attributes the problems of cross-disciplinary postgraduates student engagement in pedagogy to three dimensions: the lack of access,the difficulty on the way,and the difficulty in the future.Finally,from the perspective of college enrollment and training,put forward targeted countermeasures to promote cross-disciplinary postgraduates’ student engagement,mainly including strict examination standards,promoting the promotion of cross-disciplinary learning motivation;Strengthen personal guidance from tutors and cultivate cross-disciplinary postgraduates in a differentiated manner;Strengthen academic planning guidance,build a dedicated cross-disciplinary communication platform. |
