The improvement of the material standard of living has led to changes in people’s dietary structure and lifestyle, and at the same time, the number of obese people is increasing day by day.University students are the key group threatened by the obesity problem, and they are highly concerned about weight loss information and have an increasing demand for weight loss information services. However, due to the amount of information available and the varying quality of information, incorrect weight loss behavior by university students can be extremely damaging to their health situation. The study of information behavior is an important part of intelligence research, which aims to understand the needs and behaviors of individuals in order to provide more targeted services to information users in terms of information seeking and information access. Therefore, research on the weight loss information behavior of university students and its patterns can help to provide targeted and personalized weight loss information services for university students, and meet their weight loss information needs,so as to improve their health level. This paper focuses on the study of college students’ weight loss information behavior in six parts. The first chapter is the introductory part, which briefly describes the background and significance of the study, the main research content and methods of this paper, and the innovation points of the paper. The second chapter is a review of domestic and international literature. This chapter mainly clarifies the concepts of information behavior and other related concepts, and reviews the current status of research on weight loss information, information behavior and health information behavior, and makes a review of the relevant literature.Chapter 3 describes the theoretical basis of weight-loss information behavior among university students, mainly describing the relevant theories on which this study is based and laying the theoretical foundation for the subsequent study.Chapter 4 describes the design and implementation process of the study, mainly using in-depth interviews and other research methods to collect data on the behavioral characteristics of college students’ weight loss information behavior,i.e.weight loss information needs and motivation, weight loss information acquisition and selection, weight loss information evaluation and utilization,as well as their expectations of weight loss information services provided by colleges and universities, and to code and analyze the collected data and information in order to obtain real and valid research findings.Chapter 5 is to analyze the research results of this paper.Based on the behavioral characteristics of college students’ weight loss information behavior, this chapter collates and analyzes the research results from four aspects: weight loss information needs and motivation, weight loss information acquisition and selection, weight loss information evaluation and utilization, and expectation of weight loss information services provided by colleges and universities.Chapter 6 summarizes the findings and recommendations of this paper, which formulates the general characteristics of college students’ weight loss information behavior in three dimensions: demand and motivation, acquisition and selection, and evaluation and utilization of weight loss information, and proposes targeted optimization strategies for college students to lose weight scientifically and reasonably and for colleges and universities to provide weight loss information services,in order to improve the health level of college students and optimize the construction of health information resources such as weight loss in colleges and universities.
