A Study On The Relationship Between Middle School Students’ Participation Status,Sports Motivation,Interest And Physical Exercise Behavior

The issue of youth physical health is still a hot topic of social concern.In order to promote the coordinated development of cultural learning and physical exercise among young people,the state has introduced relevant policies to strengthen school sports work,carry out colourful school sports competitions,and organise intra-school competitions and inter-school competitions using after-school time.Vigorous school sports competitions have become an important task in school sports work.In the context of extensive school sports competitions,the study explores the relationship between different participation status of secondary school students and their motivation,interest and physical activity behaviour,as well as the breadth and depth of the impact of vigorous promotion of school sports competitions on students’ development,verifies the implementation effect of vigorous promotion of school sports competitions,and proposes corresponding suggestions and measures for improving the school sports competition system.In this study,890 secondary school students and 13 PE team leaders in Shanghai were surveyed to investigate and analyse the relationship between secondary school students’ participation status and their motivation,interest and physical activity behaviour,and to propose corresponding solutions for improving secondary school students’ motivation and interest in sports,promoting their awareness and habit of good physical activity,and improving the school sports competition system.Based on the statistical analysis of the survey results of this study,the following research results are obtained:(1)The proportion of students participating as athletes is the highest,while the proportion of students participating indirectly and not participating is basically the same.(2)There were significant differences in sports motivation,interest and physical exercise behavior among middle school students with different participation conditions(P<0.05);The motivation,interest,and physical exercise behavior of students who participate directly are significantly higher than those who participate indirectly and do not participate.The motivation,interest,and exercise behavior of male and female participants in direct competition were higher than those of male and female participants in indirect competition and non competition(P<0.05);The sports motivation and interest of middle and high school students who participated directly were higher than those who participated indirectly and did not participate(P<0.05).(3)There was a significant correlation between sports motivation,interest and physical exercise behavior of middle school students with different participation conditions(P<0.01).The correlation between sports motivation,interest and physical exercise behavior of middle school students who participate directly is higher than that of middle school students who participate indirectly or not.According to the research results,the following conclusions can be drawn:(1)The sports motivation of middle school students who participate directly is far higher than that of middle school students who participate indirectly or do not participate.Schools should encourage more high school students and girls to participate in sports competitions to enhance the sports motivation of more students.(2)The sports interest of middle school students who participate directly is higher than that of middle school students who participate indirectly and do not participate.Direct participation helps to improve the sports interest of middle school students.Schools should attach importance to the development of sports competitions in non-traditional and non key schools,fully implement the development of sports competitions in different types of schools,encourage more students to participate directly,and enhance their interest in sports.(3)The physical exercise behavior of middle school students who participate directly is higher than that of middle school students who participate indirectly and do not participate.Encouraging high school students of different genders and academic stages to participate directly can help improve their physical exercise behavior.(4)There is a significant correlation between sports motivation,interest and physical exercise behavior of middle school students in different competition conditions.In general,the correlation between sports motivation,interest and physical exercise behavior of middle school students who participate directly is higher than that of middle school students who participate indirectly or not.
