| Based on the accelerated aging of China’s population, the size of the elderly population is expanding and the proportion of the disabled elderly is increasing,so the care of the disabled elderly has gradually become a part of social work services that has received much attention in recent years. Many factors, such as financial constraints, lack of caregiving capacity and poor communication among family members, may lead to poor family relationships in long-term care families, which in turn affect the family atmosphere of the elderly with disabilities and are not conducive to their rehabilitation at home. Therefore,it is important to use professional social work theories and methods to intervene in the long-term care families of the disabled elderly.Based on the social work professional perspective, this study takes Family C,a family with long-term care for the disabled elderly,as the research object, and analyzes the micro, meso, and macro systems of the case family by applying the ecosystem theory to intervene on the poor family relationship among the caregivers of the disabled elderly family. The author found that the root cause of the breakdown of family relationship among peer caregivers is the lack of effective communication and interaction among caregivers, and the state of family communication and interaction is an important part of family cohesion. In improving the communication and interaction pattern among family members, the social worker prepares for the enhancement of family cohesion and improvement of family relationship in terms of family caregiving ability and family support. Therefore, the author constructed three indicators of family cohesion, family caregiving ability and family support in the analysis of the problem range of the clients, containing a total of five improvement indicators, namely, family communication power included in family cohesion, caregiving cognitive ability included in family caregiving ability, and community support, social support and cultural acceptance included in family support power. In general, the higher the family communication strength, the higher the family cohesion, and the better the family caregivers can maintain good family relationships through self-regulation during the caregiving period, mainly including determining reasonable family caregiving patterns and good communication and interaction patterns;caregiver caregiving ability comes second, and the higher the caregiver caregiving ability and cultural acceptance, the lower the impact of long-term care on the caregiver’s life, and the better the caregiver can maintain a stable life before long-term care.Community support and social support are the resources that caregivers can obtain from outside sources to meet their care needs when they are unable to meet them themselves,so that caregiving status can be adjusted in a timely manner. For most caregivers, the two indicators of improvement included in family support are the most difficult to obtain. The study found that using ecosystem theory to analyze the various environmental systems that interact with the family, and to develop interventions between the family and the environment to enhance each system, can improve the poor family relationships that arise from long-term care.Through reflecting on the practice process, the study proposes feasible suggestions for improving the relationship between society, community and family in long-term care for the disabled elderly, and calls on the whole society to pay more attention to the families of the disabled elderly in long-term care and help them adapt to long-term care life as soon as possible. |
