| Currently,in the context of the sudden public health emergency-the COVID-19 pandemic, the daily life and social support networks of urban empty-nesters are severely affected.Relying solely on their personal abilities is insufficient to effectively address the difficulties they face. They lack access to digital skills and solutions to their problems, and are trapped in the "digital divide," struggling to adapt to current life.In this situation, there is an urgent need for professional social workers to intervene, reconstruct the support network for urban empty-nesters,and improve their living conditions. In the preliminary stage of this study, through the methods of questionnaire survey and participatory observation, the status quo of the support network for empty-nesters in the X community of G city was understood. The most severely affected empty-nesters were selected as the service objects, and the method of social work case intervention was used to guide their problems, needs and support networks through the practical application of ecosystem theory and social support theory.Interventions were made at the individual, family, community and social levels to help service objects overcome the digital divide, change erroneous perceptions, improve family relationships, enhance parent-child interaction, alleviate negative emotions, establish neighborly assistance, obtain special subsidies, and link medical resources, effectively solving the current problems faced by the service objects. Finally,it can be concluded from this study that in the context of a sudden public health emergency, social workers can play a certain role in solving daily life problems and building social support networks for urban empty-nesters through their intervention.A process evaluation, effect evaluation, and summary reflection were conducted on this practical process, verifying the feasibility and necessity of social work intervention in the reconstruction of support networks for empty-nesters during public health emergencies, and reflecting on the effectiveness and shortcomings of social work intervention from multiple perspectives.Corresponding countermeasures were proposed from the perspectives of individuals, families, communities, and society, providing practical experience for social work intervention for urban empty-nesters during public health emergencies. To build and improve the social network of urban empty-nesters under the background of public health emergencies, multiple subjects should collaborate, and government departments should also increase their attention to the empty-nester population, establish sound laws and regulations, implement targeted policies, and create a social atmosphere of respect and love for the elderly to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of urban empty-nesters. |
