Objective: The purpose of this study is to explore the correlation between extracurricular physical exercise and personality development of junior high school students of Miao and Dong ethnic groups in southeastern Guizhou,as well as the differences between different genders,ethnic groups and grades,hoping to provide effective physical education guidance for schools and promote students ’ physical and mental health development.Methods: In this study,a stratified random cluster sampling survey method was used to investigate 1626 Miao and Dong students in Li ping County,Cong jiang County and Rong jiang County,which have the largest population of Miao and Dong in Li ping County,Cong jiang County and Rong jiang County.In-depth investigation was conducted on their extracurricular physical exercise,and detailed analysis was conducted from five dimensions :project,method,place,consumption,frequency,time,intensity and personality,in order to better understand their extracurricular physical exercise and personality status,and provide reference for better guiding their healthy development.Through in-depth study,to explore the frequency of extracurricular physical exercise,time,intensity and the correlation between personality,and correlation regression analysis.Results:(1)Qian Dong nan Miao and Dong junior high school students have a variety of extracurricular physical exercise,among which running(63.1%)and playing basketball(56.8%)are the most choices.The exercise method is mainly with classmates or friends(85.4%),with school venues and facilities(79.3%)as the main exercise place,with no sports consumption(55.5%)as the main.The frequency of exercise is mainly ’ 1-2 times a week ’(42.1%),and ’ 21-30 minutes ’(32.9%)is the most common extracurricular physical exercise time.Exercise intensity was mainly ’ short-term high intensity ’(37.3%).The amount of exercise was mainly small(57.3%).The study found that junior high school students of different genders and grades have significant differences in the frequency,time and intensity of extracurricular physical exercise(P<0.05).(2)The scores of personality dimensions of Miao and Dong junior high school students in Qian Dong nan from high to low are : prosocial(3.69),emotional stability(3.55),extraversion(3.47),serious self-control(3.32),intelligent characteristics(3.13).In addition to serious self-control,other dimensions of junior high school students ’ personality have significant differences between genders(P<0.05).In addition to the extraversion dimension,other dimensions of junior high school students ’ personality have significant differences between grades(P<0.05).In addition,there were significant differences in prosociality and extraversion among different ethnic groups(P<0.05),while there were no significant differences in other dimensions(P>0.05).(3)The relationship between extracurricular physical exercise and personality development of Miao and Dong junior high school students in Qian Dong nan.In addition to emotional stability,the frequency of extracurricular physical exercise was significantly different from other dimensions of personality(P<0.05),and the r value was between 0.015 and 0.052.There were significant differences between the time of extracurricular physical exercise and the five dimensions of junior high school students ’ personality(P<0.05),and the r value was between 0.015 and 0.052.There was a significant difference between the intensity of extracurricular physical exercise and the extraversion dimension(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference with other dimensions of junior high school students ’ personality,r =0.052.Through multiple linear regression analysis,we can find that extracurricular physical exercise can promote the development of personality of Miao and Dong junior high school students in Southeast Guizhou.The higher the frequency of extracurricular physical exercise,the longer the exercise time and the greater the exercise intensity,the greater the influence on the personality of Miao and Dong junior high school students in Southeast Guizhou.Conclusion:(1)Qian Dong nan Miao and Dong junior high school students ’extracurricular physical exercise project is rich in variety,including running,ball games,gymnastics,minority traditional sports,etc.,mainly with classmates or friends to participate in,with school facilities as the main exercise place,with no sports consumption.The frequency of exercise is high,the duration is short,the intensity of exercise is large,and the amount of exercise is mainly small.Extracurricular physical exercise has significant differences with different genders and grades,and there is no significant difference with ethnic groups.There is no significant difference in extracurricular physical exercise between junior high school students of other ethnic minorities.Compared with junior high school students of Han ethnic group,the way,place and consumption of extracurricular physical exercise are not as good as those of junior high school students of Han ethnic group.(2)The personality development of Miao and Dong junior high school students in Qian Dong nan is at the upper middle level.The personality dimensions of junior high school students have significant differences between genders.The prosociality of girls is higher than that of boys,while boys are higher than girls in intelligence,extraversion and emotional stability.The prosociality and extroversion of personality have significant differences among ethnic groups,and the score of Dong ethnic group is higher than that of Miao ethnic group.In addition to extraversion,there are significant differences in other dimensions of junior high school students ’ personality among grades.The personality development level of senior students is better than that of junior students.The personality development of Miao and Dong junior high school students in Qian Dong nan is lower than that of Han ethnic group;compared with the Korean ethnic group,except for the emotional stability dimension,the scores of other personality dimensions were lower than those of the Korean junior high school students.(3)Through regression analysis,it is found that the three aspects of extracurricular physical exercise have a low degree of interpretation of each dimension of personality,but it has a certain linear relationship with personality development.Therefore,it can also be explained that extracurricular physical exercise is only one aspect that affects the personality development of middle school students.Through investigation and research,it is found that the higher the frequency of extracurricular physical exercise,the longer the exercise time,and the greater the exercise intensity,the greater the impact on the personality of junior high school students.
