Reading is the ladder of human progress,primary school is a critical period to develop extracurricular reading habits.To help senior primary school students develop the habit of loving,being able to read and enjoying reading,it is necessary not only for senior primary school students to play the role of subject consciousness in extra-curricular reading,but also to purposefully stimulate and awaken their subject consciousness and persistent willpower.This study focuses on the problem of the cultivation of extracurricular reading habits of senior primary school students.Literature research,interview and questionnaire were used to conduct the research.In order to understand the real situation of extra-curricular reading habits of senior primary school students,teachers and parents were interviewed first,and then a questionnaire survey was conducted on the extra-curricular reading behaviors of senior primary school students in X Primary School in Yantai City.It is found that there are the following problems in the process of developing extracurricular reading habits of senior primary school students: first,the lack of purposeful guidance for the development of extracurricular reading habits of senior primary school students.Second,lack of long-term adherence to the normative guidance of primary school seniors extracurricular reading habits.Thirdly,the students in higher grades of primary school lack the initiative to develop extracurricular reading habits.This paper believes that the causes of the above problems include at least: first,teachers do not have a deep understanding of the internal mechanism of extracurricular reading habits of senior primary school students,lack of targeted guidance and necessary encouragement and supervision,lack of home-school cooperation and so on;Second,parents lack of consciously create a strong extracurricular reading atmosphere,lack of necessary encouragement,accompany,supervision,etc.;Third,students in higher grades of primary school do not have a deep understanding of extra-curricular reading habits,lack of subjective consciousness,and lack of necessary willpower.This study holds that the basic mechanisms of the cultivation of senior primary school students’ extracurricular reading habits are as follows: first,purposefully arouse students’ consciousness of self-consciously carrying out extracurricular reading;Second,a long time to adhere to extracurricular reading behavior;Thirdly,it is internalized into students’ self-conscious extracurricular reading behavior.Based on this understanding,this paper puts forward the following countermeasures: first,teachers and parents must pay attention to the cultivation of extracurricular reading habits of senior primary school students;Second,teachers and parents must adhere to the long-term normative and encouraging guidance of the high grade students extracurricular reading habits;Third,teachers and parents pay attention to enhance the initiative of students in higher grades of primary school to develop extracurricular reading habits.
