A Study Of Education Anxiety Of Parents Of Primary School Students

At present,parental education anxiety has become a social group anxiety,and its serious effects and consequences have aroused widespread concern in society.Parents surrounded by education anxiety are very likely to go astray in educating their children by "scoreism".Primary school is the basic stage of compulsory education,which plays a fundamental role in the development of a person’s life.If the educational anxiety of parents of primary school students is not effectively alleviated,it will inevitably affect the effectiveness of the implementation of compulsory education.Therefore,helping parents of peimary school students to correctly understand educational anxiety,actively cooperate with school education in co-parenting,reasonably preset educational expectations,and create a harmonious and orderly family education environment is an effective path to promote students’ overall development.A self-administered questionnaire was used to survey parents of primary school students in multiple locations to understand the current status of educational anxiety among parents of primary school students in three dimensions: academic test anxiety,learning attitude anxiety,and anxiety about their own abilities.The findings indicated that there were no significant differences in the overall level of parental educational anxiety and the three dimensions of parental anxiety by parents’ role,parents’ age,gender of the child,and whether the child was an only child for primary school students;Parents’ education level,location of children’s school,and children’s academic performance differed significantly across the three dimensions of educational anxiety and overall level of parents of primary school students;Monthly family income differed significantly in the anxiety and overall level of parents of primary school students about their own abilities;There were significant differences in parents’ attitudinal anxiety toward learning among parents of primary school students in terms of the school band their children attended.Based on the current situation analysis and interview results,this study found that the main causes of educational anxiety among parents of primary school students were: poor educational ecological environment;poorly functioning leading role of school education;and unhealthy family relationships.To address the causes of education anxiety among parents of primary school students,the following mitigation measures are proposed: the government takes the lead in improving the educational ecological environment and creating a favorable educational atmosphere;schools give full play to the role of the main educational front and return to the essence of education and nurturing;parents take the initiative to update their educational philosophy and focus on children’s physical and mental health.
