Research On The Construction Of First-class Major In Local Application-oriented Universities And Colleges

Major construction is a irreplaceable factor for local application-oriented universities and colleges to achieve distinctive development and cultivate high-quality talents.Major construction quality directly determines school development quality.In April 2019,the General Office of the Ministry of Education issued a circular on the implementation of the “Double Ten Thousand Plan” for the construction of first-class undergraduate majors,proposing the construction of about 10,000 first-class undergraduate majors at the national level and 10,000 first-class undergraduate majors at the provincial level,covering all universities and specialties.This is a great opportunity for local universities,at the same time,it has great challenges.In view of this,focusing on the current situation of the construction of first-class majors in local application-oriented undergraduate colleges,analyzing internal and external factors and challenges,and proposing targeted strategies will help clarify the value of the construction of first-class subjects in local application-oriented undergraduate colleges and facilitate the high-level development of local application-oriented undergraduate colleges.This paper takes Sichuan X College as an example,mainly based on the “Double Ten Thousand Plan” and other documents,based on the “Law of Internal and External Development Relationship of Higher Education” and “SWOT Analysis Framework”,with the help of investigation method,SWOT analysis method and other methods,constructs the strategic framework of first-class majors in local application-oriented universities and colleges from the theoretical perspective.Take X College as a case,this paper analyzes the present situation of X College’s first-class major construction,analyzes internal and external factors,then according to the classification of the main body,combined with the reality to put forward targeted strategies,in order to provide reference for the construction of first-class majors in local application-oriented universities and colleges.It is found that the internal advantages of X College are mainly reflected in good school foundation,flexible management system,flexible major adjustment speed and obvious application-oriented characteristics.The internal disadvantages are mainly reflected in the shortage of first-class majors’ investment fund and the lack of first-class teachers.The external opportunities mainly include the expansion of specialty autonomy,national policy support and increasing demand for high-level applied talents.The external threats mainly come from other high-level universities’ challenge and university-enterprise cooperation difficulties.In view of the problems presented by local applied-oriented universities and colleges,the following suggestions are put: firstly,the government should play the role of coordinator,improve the policy guarantee system,increase publicity,and increase funds for the construction of first-class majors;secondly,the school should strengthen the construction of first-class majors,from the aspects of application-oriented development orientation and application-oriented talent training objectives,curriculum construction,the construction of “double-position teacher”teaching team,teaching reform,school-enterprise cooperation and characteristic development;thirdly,industries and enterprises should actively participate in the construction of first-class majors in colleges and universities;lastly,the society should build a first-class major construction evaluation system.
