| The junior high school stage is a stage of rapid physical and psychological development for students,as well as a transitional stage from dependence to independence.With the continuous development of physical and psychological development,students’ learning activities are increasing,their requirements for knowledge are becoming higher and higher,and their learning tasks are becoming heavier and heavier.This requires that students must devote themselves to the learning process,maintain strong energy,and demonstrate lasting Full mental state and positive emotional cognition.Learning engagement,as an important indicator of students’ learning quality,can effectively predict students’ academic achievements.What is the degree of learning engagement among junior high school students in China at this stage?What factors are affecting it? Relevant research shows that the overall level of learning engagement of junior high school students in China is above the middle level.Among the factors that affect learning engagement,family function,school atmosphere,and psychological capital are three important influencing factors.The development of individuals cannot be separated from the joint effects of environment and individuals.The family provides material and psychological support for students,which has an important impact on their academic and physical development.As the main educational way to guide students’ learning,schools play a crucial role in cultivating students’ academic development,providing them with a good learning environment and conditions,and providing them with good development opportunities.In the process of accepting and perceiving these influences,students are also actively adjusting their psychological state to cope with them.Currently,there is a lack of research on the mechanism of interaction between family function,school atmosphere,psychological capital,and learning engagement among junior high school students.Based on previous research,this study,based on the perspective of positive psychology and family function theory,studies the influencing factors and mechanisms of junior high school students’ learning engagement,and provides reliable suggestions for improving junior high school students’ learning engagement.Using a cluster random sampling method,this study conducted a questionnaire survey on 738 junior high school students from four middle schools in Chengdu using the Personal Basic Information Questionnaire,Family Function Scale,School Climate Questionnaire,Psychological Capital Scale,and Learning Engagement Scale to explore the relationship between family function,school climate,psychological capital,and learning engagement.The results show that:(1)The family function,school atmosphere,psychological capital,and learning input of junior high school students are at an overall mid to high level;(2)There are significant differences in family functions among junior high school students in terms of gender,whether they are only children,and whether they are single parents.Girls,only children,and non single parent families have better family functions;There are significant differences in perceived school atmosphere among grades.The perceived school atmosphere in Grade 2 is the best,followed by Grade 1 and Grade 3;There are significant differences in psychological capital in gender,whether there is an only child,and whether there is a single parent family.Girls,only children,and non single parent families have higher psychological capital;There is no significant difference in learning engagement among demographic variables.(3)There is a significant correlation between family function,school atmosphere,psychological capital,and learning input of junior high school students;Family function,learning atmosphere,and psychological capital can significantly and positively predict junior high school students’ learning engagement;(4)The perceived school atmosphere and psychological capital of junior high school students play a mediating role between family function and learning engagement,respectively;(5)The perceived school atmosphere and psychological capital of junior high school students have a chain mediating effect between family functions and learning engagement.On the basis of fully exploring the relationship between family,school,students themselves and learning engagement,the following educational suggestions are proposed: strengthen parent-child emotional communication,and promote the good play of family functions;Establish a good teacher-student relationship and promote students’ positive perception of the school atmosphere;Improve students’ sense of self efficacy and enhance their positive psychological strength;Home school student cooperation to promote student academic development. |
