Research On The Cultivation Model And Practice Of Employability Of British University Students

As the expansion of higher education since 1990 s,the number of undergraduates has increased sharply.The employment problems of college students is prominent,which arises people’s attention from all parties of society.The difficulty of obtaining employment for college students is a common problem faced by different countries.Improving the employability of college students is an important way to bridge the gap between college graduates and social demands and also alleviates employment pressure.Since 1960 s,with the popularization of higher education in the UK,British education scholars begun to pay attention to the cultivation of college students’ employability,and carried out a lot of practical exploration to promote full employment of college students.Therefore,the UK has formed a wealth of theoretical results in cultivating the employability of college students and accumulated rich experience.Many successful training methods are worthy of our reference.With research methods including literature review,comparative analysis,case study method and so on,the thesis studies the cultivation model of British college students,and explores how to cultivate the employability of UK college students in practice.First of all,the study sorts out the theoretical basis of the employability from a macro perspective.Secondly,the thesis studies the development process of employability cultivation of British college students from a historical perspective,including the historical background and policy sources and so on.What’s more,the thesis gives a detailed account of the implementation framework of embodying employability in UK universities,selecting the three main modes of employment cultivation,including curriculum-based mode,work-based mode and entrepreneurial-driven mode,and exploring its practice and effectiveness in universities.Moreover,this thesis discusses the evaluation of the employment improvement of college students in the UK,including the forms of evaluation,the directions of evaluation practice,and new trends of the evaluation indicator including the employability of college students under the framework of the Evaluation of Teaching Excellence in the United Kingdom.Finally,taking the applied university Sheffield Hallam University as an example,it discusses the practical paths of cultivating the employability of college students.Finally,it summarizes the characteristics of the employability cultivation of British college students,hoping to have some enlightenment on the employability cultivation of college students in our country.
