| With the rapid development of information technology and the deep integration of big data,cloud computing and artificial intelligence with education and teaching,an industrial revolution brought by the transformation of digitalization and intelligence is being pushed forward rapidly.As a result,the space of human teaching and learning is different from the traditional space and a new teaching space is generated and widely applied.The new teaching space lays a good technical foundation for the teaching and learning of vocational education.More and more vocational colleges launch various types of new teaching space such as smart classroom,virtual simulation experiment center,VR training room and training base according to the professional needs.In this new teaching space,vocational college students use VR desktop all-in-one,VR glasses and multimedia intelligent teaching equipment,which stimulates their interest in learning and increases their learning investment.The degree of students’ learning involvement affects their learning effect,and then affects the quality of training of high-end technical and skilled talents needed by industrial transformation and development.Therefore,it is very important to study the learning involvement of higher vocational students under the new teaching space.Learning engagement can be used as an indicator to reflect the detailed situation of students’ learning engagement in the new teaching space.Firstly,this study analyzed and sorted out relevant researches on the new teaching space at home and abroad through the method of literature data,defined the concepts of the new teaching space and the learning engagement of higher vocational students,developed an interview outline and conducted the interview based on the theories of student participation theory,participation pattern identification theory and other theories,and designed questionnaires based on the interview results and NSSE-China scale.Through pre-investigation and factor analysis,learning involvement is finally divided into five dimensions: motivational involvement,cognitive involvement,behavioral involvement,social interaction involvement and emotional involvement.Then,using the questionnaire survey method,650 students from 6 higher vocational colleges in Chengdu were taken as samples to investigate the current situation of learning engagement of higher vocational students under the new teaching space.The descriptive statistics and difference analysis of the survey data were carried out with the help of SPSS22.0,and the following conclusions were drawn: First,on the whole,the overall level of vocational college students’ learning engagement is higher under the new teaching space.Second,under the new teaching space,there are significant differences in the learning engagement of higher vocational students in terms of grade and whether they come from the two colleges.Secondly,based on the literature review,the influencing factors of vocational college students’ learning engagement under the new teaching space are divided into four aspects: student factors such as students’ self-efficacy and learning interest,teacher factors such as teaching methods and teachers’ information literacy,peer factors such as peer cooperation and support,peer learning atmosphere,and environmental factors such as new teaching space hardware and software facilities.It also explores the specific influence of four factors on students’ learning engagement.Through descriptive analysis and regression analysis,it is found that students’ own factors will affect motivation,cognitive,behavioral,social interaction and emotional involvement in the new teaching space,and teachers’ factors will affect students’ social interaction and emotional involvement.Peer factors will affect vocational students’ motivation input,cognitive input and social interaction input under the new teaching space,while environmental factors will affect vocational students’ learning behavior input.Finally,in order to further improve the learning engagement of vocational college students under the new teaching space,the following suggestions are put forward,that is,ARCS model is used to improve the level of motivation involvement and enhance students’ learning interest.According to scaffolding teaching theory,cultivate students’ self-efficacy,improve the level of cognitive involvement;According to the theory of group dynamics,to build a learning community and improve the level of social interaction input;According to the constructivism theory,upgrading the new teaching space and improving the level of behavior input;Reform the teacher evaluation method,improve the level of emotional involvement,and finally achieve the purpose of improving the quality of vocational education. |
