Global society is marching towards a new era of intelligence with the rapid and continuous development of big data technology and artificial intelligence.Governments all over the world are very concerned about the development of AI technology,and there is an urgent need for a large number of skilled AI professionals to ensure leadership in the field of AI.China has issued several policy documents to guide the development of national AI education and provide guarantees for AI education,which aims to cultivate our citizen in a better way to become AI technical talents so that it can fulfill the demands of AI education.The current boom in AI education in China comes with some difficulties and challenges,including an incomplete curricula system and shortage of professional teachers.Therefore,the author tries to study the application of case-based teaching method in teaching artificial intelligence courses in high schools based on existing research on artificial intelligence education,so that it can contribute to Chinese artificial intelligence education.First,this study compared and synthesized the present situation of research on case-based teaching method and AI courses,and defines the conceptual and theoretical underpinnings relevant to this study.Secondly,this study investigated the current teaching situation of AI courses in high school,pointed out the problems in current teaching which includes poor teaching conditions,lack of professional teachers and inadequate curriculum construction,and argued for the applicability of the case-based teaching method in high school AI courses.Again,this study argued for the feasibility of implementing the case-based teaching method in AI courses from three dimensions which contained the study material,learning objectives and the characteristics of students in high school,and described the principles of case-based teaching preparation and case writing.This study combined problem-solution and case-based teaching,and used problem-solution as a clue to design the case-based teaching implementation process of eliciting problems→clarifying problems→preliminary analysis of problems→in-depth analysis of problems → problem solved,and completed the teaching design on this basis.Students were selected as experimental subjects in this study who came from the author’s school,and their changes in three aspects including students’ learning interest,learning attitude and learning ability were measured through questionnaires.Students’ learning will be monitored on the basis of test results.Students and teachers’ satisfaction with this teaching experiment have be known by interview so that it could provide an effective and realistic basis for the application of the case-based teaching method in AI courses in high schools.It can be seen from the experimental findings that the application of the case-based teaching method of AI was effective in helping students in high school to master the basics,at the same time,it’s helpful to increase students’ interest in artificial intelligence courses and students will be more engaged in the class.Agreement and satisfaction was also expressed by the students and teachers who participated in this teaching and learning for this study.In conclusion,this study verified that the case-based teaching method was feasible and effective in artificial intelligence courses in high school,and should serve as a useful reference for teaching AI.It’s expected that this study can offer pragmatic guidance in the field of artificial intelligence education.
