| Heroic figures have always been valued by the Party and the State for their powerful role in uniting national consensus, empowering patriotic sentiments, teaching moral cultivation and leading the ideological spirit. In the unified version of the senior secondary language textbook,32 texts on heroic figures have been selected, accounting for 23%of the total selection, which shows their importance.Field research has found that the current teaching of heroic figures is not sufficiently supplemented by texts, lacking in generative guidance and inadequate mobilisation of cultural contexts, resulting in students’ perception of heroic figures being homogenised, labelled and difficult to evoke emotional resonance. The "1+X" joint reading is a newer model of reading teaching,in which teachers and students read multiple texts under the umbrella of the topic, and are guided to explore and collectively build their own reading.Based on this, this study attempts to explore the teaching of heroic characters in the "1+X" joint reading orientation of the unified version of the high school language, with a view to promoting the effectiveness of teaching heroic characters. The body of this paper consists of four chapters, the first of which focuses on the research on teaching the image of heroes in high school languages.Using a public secondary school in Guizhou Province as the research sample, the current situation and problems of teaching the image of the heroic character in high school language are analysed and summarised through interviews and questionnaires with teachers and students in the school and observations in the classroom during the internship. The second chapter examines the selected texts on the image of heroic characters in the unified version of the high school language textbooks. The main contents include:firstly, the statistics of the selected texts on the image of heroic characters, and an analysis of the statistics and the characteristics of the selection.Secondly, the classification of heroic figures, specifically the seven categories of heroic figures:revolutionary, national, leader, scholar, wise, ordinary and collective.Thirdly, the moral, intellectual and aesthetic values of teaching heroic characters are discussed.Chapter 3 discusses four classroom practice models of "1+X" joint reading, and analyses the feasibility of applying"1+X" joint reading to the teaching of heroic characters, and finally proposes specific strategies for their application based on relevant theories and actual teaching situations. The fourth chapter takes the text"A Letter to My Wife" from Unit 5 of the second book of Compulsory Studies as an example, and presents a case study on the application of"1+X" to the teaching of heroic characters for high school teachers. |
