This paper explores the impact of the practice of secondary schools music education in Penang,Malaysia from a multicultural perspective.Most regions has multicultural characteristic as a result of the increment in the mobility rate of population.However,the multiculturalism in each region is unique.This paper reflects the uniqueness of Penang multi-culture society through practical examples of music activities and music sessions of the music education in secondary schools in Penang and music education in secondary schools are of great value to the humanities,economy and human resources of society.First,music education in secondary schools of Penang is responsible in shaping identity,which reflects the cultural consciousness of individuals and groups.Secondly,it brings benefits to the community’s economy by becoming a living cultural icon for the promotion of tourism in the community,driving the community’s economy,and also making lots of contributions to the cultural output and cultural consumption of the community.It is a cultural capital that can be converted into non-consumable energy for sustainable development of the society.Third,it is the empirical evidence of the cultivation,expansion and inheritance of soft power that depicts social care and act of social construction.
