Private kindergartens are an important part of preschool education,and the professional development of private early childhood teachers,who are in large numbers,is highly valued by all sectors of society.The improvement of the professional quality of private kindergarten teachers is not only related to the development of private early childhood education and the healthy growth of young children,but is also necessary to ensure better and faster development of private early childhood education.This study uses literature,questionnaires,and semi-structured interviews to examine the current situation and dilemmas of private kindergarten teachers’ professional development.Through the collection,categorization and analysis of data and information,it was found that:private kindergarten teachers have a higher overall awareness of professionalism and teacher ethics,which is directly related to the frequent teacher ethics-related training conducted in kindergartens.Private kindergarten teachers have a basic understanding of professional knowledge,but not much theoretical knowledge of education and teaching is applied in practice,and general knowledge needs to be strengthened.The overall level of professional competence of private kindergarten teachers is moderate to high,but the role of parent service providers affects the implementation of teachers’ professional authority.The structure of the private kindergarten teachers is young and mobile,and there is a lack of professional leadership and continuity.The personal professional development of private kindergarten teachers is weak,mainly in the form of a weak sense of active learning and a lack of reflective skills.The external development environment for private kindergarten teachers is not sufficiently supportive.Kindergarten teachers’ training at school is utilitarian in nature,the quality of teaching and research activities is worrying,there are few opportunities for training outside of school,and there is a lack of security in terms of salary and benefits,time,systems and resources.In addition,there is a gap between private kindergarten teachers’ awareness of professional self-development and self-development behaviors,as well as an analysis of the causes of private kindergarten teachers’ professional development dilemmas.In response to these issues,this study proposes support strategies at the private kindergarten teacher level,the private kindergarten level and the government level.
