| In order to promote the development of the world’s low-carbon economy,China consciously practiced the role of a big country and putted forward the goal of "double carbon".In this context, this paper focused on the impact of manufacturing agglomeration of pillar industries on carbon productivity, combed the existing research results, used spatial econometric model to study the impact of manufacturing agglomeration on carbon productivity in 30 provinces of China, and explored the heterogeneity of the impact in the three regions of the East, middle and West.Firstly, this paper systematically combed and analyzed the relevant literature on industrial agglomeration and carbon productivity, comprehensively analyzed the mechanism of the impact of manufacturing agglomeration on carbon productivity according to the existing research results, and putted forward hypotheses accordingly.Secondly, the location entropy method and MML index method were selected to measure the manufacturing agglomeration level and carbon productivity of the whole country and the East, middle and west regions respectively, and descriptive analysis was carried out. Then,it made a spatial econometric analysis on the impact of manufacturing agglomeration level on carbon productivity, and explored the reasons for its formation. Finally,it drew a conclusion and putted forward differentiated policy suggestions for low-carbon transformation of manufacturing industry. It was found that the overall level of manufacturing agglomeration in China was low,the regional heterogeneity was obvious, and the change trend of each region was different. The level of manufacturing agglomeration in the eastern region was much higher than the national average, while the level in the central and western regions was low and significantly lower than the national level. The spatial heterogeneity of manufacturing carbon productivity was also significant, but the change trend was similar.By 2019,the central region had the highest carbon productivity, followed by the East, and the western region had the lowest carbon productivity.Through spatial econometric analysis,it was found that at the national level, the impact of manufacturing agglomeration on carbon productivity presents a positive "N" relationship, which had a significant positive effect on carbon productivity. At the regional level, there was also significant regional heterogeneity.Like the whole country, the impact of manufacturing agglomeration on carbon productivity in the eastern region showed a positive "N" relationship, but the agglomeration level was too high, which was not conducive to the improvement of carbon productivity. The impact curve of the central and western regions showed an inverted "N" shape. The central manufacturing agglomeration can significantly improve carbon productivity, but the western manufacturing agglomeration can inhibit carbon productivity. The conclusions were summarized and the differentiated countermeasures were put forward as follows:(1)promote the moderately differentiated development of manufacturing clusters(2)promote inter regional policy linkage and coordination(3)moderately implement environmental regulation and standardize the open environment(4)promote the optimization of energy structure of manufacturing industry and encourage the use of clean energy sources(5)improve the capital labor ratio of manufacturing industry and cultivate high-quality talents. |
