The development of Beijing Tianjin Hebei region has always been the focus of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council. In order to build Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei into a world-class urban agglomeration and make it an important fulcrum for China to face the world, the state has issued and implemented many targeted policies. However,at present, the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region in China has some shortcomings in terms of transportation infrastructure, poor effect in terms of industrial agglomeration, and a large gap in terms of economic development level. Therefore,an in-depth analysis of the impact of transportation infrastructure on the regional economic development of Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei, and a clear understanding of the role of industrial agglomeration in it,is of great practical significance to promote China’s regional economic development.Based on the above background, this study first analyzes and discusses the current situation of Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei from the provincial level and the municipal level. Then, using the intermediary effect model, taking industrial agglomeration as the intermediary variable, this paper explores whether industrial agglomeration plays an intermediary role between transportation infrastructure and the regional economic development of Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei, and tries to explore the path to promote the regional economic development of Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei from the perspective of transportation infrastructure and industrial agglomeration. Finally, the threshold model is further introduced to explore the nonlinear characteristics of transportation infrastructure on regional economic development. The research results show that: first, the evaluation results of Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei at the provincial level are increasing year by year, indicating that the three are in a rising trend in all aspects. However, from the municipal level,it is found that the gap among the 13 cities has not narrowed, but has shown an expanding trend.Second, after introducing intermediary variables, the empirical test results show that transport infrastructure can indirectly promote regional economic development through the intermediary effect of industrial agglomeration.Improving the degree of industrial agglomeration can reverse the impact of transportation infrastructure on regional economic development.Based on the above conclusions, relevant countermeasures and suggestions are put forward: first, the construction of transportation infrastructure should take the optimization of industrial layout and adjustment of agglomeration degree as the development orientation, and give full play to the role of transportation infrastructure in promoting industrial agglomeration.Second, the government should give macro guidance to industrial parks, divide industrial functions, and avoid homogeneous competition.Third, expand the role of industrial agglomeration in promoting the regional economy of Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei, and give play to the joint efforts of all regions.
