| In today’s information society, the proportion of service trade in international trade is gradually increasing, and has increasingly become a new growth point for many countries’ economic development. However, influenced by the general environment and its own characteristics, the barriers to trade in services are abused and highly hidden, making it difficult to measure.By quantifying the barriers to trade in services, and studying their impact on the export of trade in services and the calculation of export potential,we can effectively understand the export potential of China’s trade in services, and provide targeted suggestions for promoting the export of trade in services.Firstly, this paper makes a descriptive analysis of the development of service trade.Under the circumstance that the proportion of the world’s overall service trade has increased and the service trade has become a new main force in the development of international trade,China’s service trade is growing faster than the world,so its share in the international service trade has gradually increased, becoming the second largest service trading country in the world. However, there is a big gap between China and the United States, which ranks first. We further subdivide the field of service trade and find that, unlike the surplus in goods trade,China’s service trade structure is unbalanced and there is a large deficit. It shows that China’s export of service trade is insufficient, and most of its trading partners are concentrated in developed economies. In order to further develop China’s service trade,it is necessary to solve the export problem of China’s service trade and analyze the factors affecting the export of service trade.First of all,in order to understand the level of service trade barriers encountered by China in the process of service trade export.Using the data of bilateral service trade exports,by establishing an expanded trade gravity model,63 national economies are selected as samples, and the time range is from 2005 to 2020.Through the two-way fixed effect model regression, measure the tariff equivalence of service trade barriers. The results show that the countries with low level of service trade barriers are basically developed countries, while the level of service trade barriers in China is relatively high, but it is declining.Further analyze the level of service trade barriers set by various countries to China, and compare the level and change trend of China’s overall service trade barriers from the world, developed economies and developing countries(including RECP countries,BRICs countries and central and Eastern European countries)by grouping. At the same time, the export potential of China’s service trade is estimated based on the regression results of gravity model. Both developed economies and developing countries,China’s service trade export potential is large, showing a state of insufficient trade. Finally, based on the measurement of barriers to trade in services and the empirical analysis of China’s export potential, this paper provides the direction for the future development of trade in services.Such as promoting cooperation with central and Eastern European countries with great export potential;Actively develop trade cooperation with neighboring countries, such as Singapore,Japan and South Korea;Take advantage of the convenience of language to carry out cooperation with countries with the same language system as China;Actively participate in multilateral regional agreements on trade in services, accelerate the process of regional comprehensive economic partnership agreement(RCEP)currently negotiated, create international excellent cases, and greatly promote the development of liberalization of trade in services. |
