At present,China is in a period of rapid population aging and the problem of rural elderly care is becoming increasingly serious.Mutual assistance elderly care is a beneficial supplement to traditional family and institutional elderly care,which can integrate and utilize idle resources to provide more diversified elderly care services for the elderly in rural areas,and achieve the goal of providing them with a sense of security,action,and happiness.Social capital is an important resource for promoting the development of mutual aid elderly care.Rural areas are rich in social capital,and Dayang Ancient Town in Jincheng City is no exception.Social capital can reshape the social support network of the elderly and effectively solve the problem of human,material,and financial shortages in the process of mutual aid elderly care.From the perspective of social capital,this article finds a positive correlation between social capital and mutual assistance in elderly care.Based on actual research,elderly people have a strong willingness to participate in mutual assistance in elderly care.However,social capital has not played its due role in the development of mutual assistance in elderly care,and mutual assistance in elderly care is facing development difficulties.This article analyzes the reasons for these difficulties,And provide relevant suggestions for the development of rural mutual assistance elderly care from the perspective of cultivating and developing social capital.Dayang Ancient Town belongs to a traditional village and is in the development stage of a "semi mature society".The current situation of population aging,the status of pension security system,and the difficulties faced by family and institutional elderly care all have high homogeneity with the problems existing in rural elderly care nationwide.Moreover,Dayang Ancient Town has rich historical and cultural resources,and has a good foundation for exploring and cultivating social capital.As a research case,it is typical.Previous studies have found that social capital plays an extremely important role in the process of mutual assistance and elderly care.According to Patnam’s definition of social capital,this paper quantifies social capital into three indicators: social trust,social network,and social norms.Through a questionnaire survey of the elderly in Dayang Ancient Town,the binary Logit regression analysis method is used to prove that the three aspects of social capital are positively related to the willingness to participate in mutual aid pension.Based on the practical research and correlation analysis results of Dayang Ancient Town,it is concluded that mutual aid pension is faced with the dilemma of weak participation enthusiasm,unsustainable development,absence of relevant policies and regulations,and difficulties in coordination of multiple subjects.It also analyzes the reasons from the aspects of insufficient stock of social capital at the individual and group levels and insufficient cultivation of social trust,social network,and social norms.Finally,it analyzes the reasons from the aspects of social trust,social network Propose development strategies for rural mutual assistance elderly care in terms of social norms.In short,by fully tapping and cultivating social capital,the informal pension security system of mutual assistance has become an important supplementary form of the rural pension security system.Together with the formal pension security system,it forms a multi-level and sustainable rural pension security system,effectively solving the pension difficulties faced by rural areas and improving the level of pension security for the elderly in rural areas.
