Research On The Impact Of Targeted Poverty Alleviation On Rural Poverty Reduction

In 2020,after a series of efforts,China achieved a comprehensive victory in the fight against poverty and eliminated absolute poverty.What are the results of targeted poverty alleviation work? What are the changes compared to previous poverty alleviation policies?It has always been the focus of researchers’ attention.Based on this,this article uses the 2012-2018 China Family Panel Studies to estimate the effects of targeted poverty alleviation policies on the income level of impoverished households and changes in various sub income categories using the difference-in-differences method,as well as the dynamic effects of precision poverty alleviation policies.Considering the possible issue of not meeting the parallel trend assumption,the triple difference method is used to further discuss the poverty reduction effect of targeted poverty alleviation policies.Finally,the heterogeneity of the impact of targeted poverty alleviation policies on households with different levels of poverty and the spillover effects on non impoverished households were analyzed.Based on the above research,this article concludes as follows:Firstly,targeted poverty alleviation policy has significantly improved the income level of impoverished rural households and changed their income structure.The implementation of targeted poverty alleviation policies has significantly increased household net income and per capita net income,increased wage and operating income,reduced transfer income,and had a significant poverty reduction effect.Secondly,from a dynamic perspective,targeted poverty alleviation policies have sustainability,and they continue to promote income growth for impoverished households over time.Thirdly,the poverty reduction effect of targeted poverty alleviation policies has heterogeneity for rural households with different levels of poverty.The role of targeted poverty alleviation policies is more pronounced for low-income families,and as household income increases,The poverty reduction effect of targeted poverty alleviation policies is U-shaped.Fourthly,the targeted poverty alleviation policy has a Spillover effect,which can promote the income level of non poor households.
