A Study On The Impact Of Trade Facilitation On The Technological Complexity Of Manufacturing Exports

With the deepening of economic globalization and regional economic integration,trade facilitation plays an increasingly important role in international trade exports,which will also have an important impact on the quantity and quality of export products.Since the reform and opening up,China has actively integrated into the international community,participated in international trade and division of labor,the scale of manufacturing exports has been expanding,and the manufacturing industry has gradually ranked first in the world,but the global value chain status of the manufacturing industry is still at the low end,and the quality of export products needs to be further improved.Therefore,studying the impact and mechanism of trade facilitation on the technical complexity of manufacturing exports is of great significance to promoting the transformation and upgrading of China’s manufacturing industry and improving international competitiveness.First of all,this dissertation sorts out the relevant literature on trade facilitation and export technology complexity,and then explores the role path of trade facilitation affecting the technical complexity of manufacturing exports,analyzes how trade facilitation affects the technical complexity of manufacturing exports from the two aspects of intermediate technology spillover effect and R&D innovation effect,and explains the impact of trade facilitation on the technical complexity of manufacturing export technology through the above two effects.Secondly,this dissertation selects panel data from 48 major manufacturing export countries from 2008 to 2019 as a research sample.The level of trade facilitation and the technical complexity of manufacturing exports in 48 countries during the sample period were calculated using formulas.An empirical model of the impact of trade facilitation on the technological complexity of manufacturing exports is established.In order to improve the results,foreign direct investment,human capital,openness,and import trade are added as control variables,and the first-level indicators of trade facilitation are included in the model for regression analysis.According to the heterogeneity analysis of the economic development level and trade facilitation degree of the sample countries,two transmission channels were tested by using the mediation effect model.The results show that trade facilitation has a positive effect on the improvement of the technological complexity of manufacturing exports,and the impact on countries with higher economic development level and countries with a relatively convenient degree of trade facilitation is more significant.Finally,this dissertation makes policy recommendations from two levels through the above conclusions.On the one hand,countries should pay more attention to infrastructure,customs border management,system optimization and financial environment,as well as the popularization of the Internet,and make full and effective use of their own resources to increase trade opening up and improve the level of trade facilitation.On the other hand,all countries,especially developing countries,should give full play to their own advantages,actively participate in the global network,strengthen exchanges and cooperation with other countries,adjust their industrial structure,optimize the export of manufacturing industries,improve the quality and core competitiveness of export products,enhance their position in the global value chain,and promote the process of globalization.
