Objective The purpose of the study was to analyse the incidence of overweight and obesity students over 4-grade in Hefei and explore the epidemiology characteristics of in this population. Methods Using a cross-sectional study, the cluster sampling was carried on Primary and secondary schools in Hefei. Taking elementary, middle and high school students in a school in each. Then selected 50% of all classes according to grade above the fourth as our survey randomly. According to Working Group on Obesity in China (WGOC) published Body Mass Index Reference for Screening Overweight and Obesity in Chinese School-age Children in November 2003,BMI 85th and 95th of BMI is the standards for screening overweight and obesity younger than 18 yeas old; at age 18 for males and females are 24 and 28 as overweight and obesity cutoff points. Results 1. The average BMI is (19.48±3.54)kg/m2, and the value of every group according to age is upward trend. Boys and girls of 11-year-old or 14-year-old two age groups, BMI values were significant difference (P <0.05).2. Male overweight rate was 17.3%, and obesity rate was 8.1%; the corresponding indexs of girls were 9.6% and 5.1% that lower than the boys. And the difference was statistically significant (χ2 = 26.05, P <0.01).3. The overweight rate and obesity rate of 4 grade and above of school-age children in Hefei were different in all age groups, but 8-year-old,13-year-old and 17-year-old group of overweight or obesity were higher. 4. All the students were divided into three lever: primary (4-6 grades), Junior (7-9 grades), high school (grades 10-12) .The rate of overweight (χ2 = 17.59, P<0.05) or obesity are significantly different in the three levers(χ2=10.43,P<0.05).Conclusion Above the fourth grade students in Hefei are in a very serious situation of overweight or obesity . The rates of overweight or obesity in boys are higher than girls in the corresponding rates. The rate of overweight or obesity are significantly different in different grades. It suggest that effective measures should be taken to combat chidhood obesity. Objective: To understand the affecting factors of overweight and obesity the 4th grade students in Hefei. Methods: Using a case-control study, the cluster sampling was carried on Primary and secondary schools in Hefei. Taking elementary, middle and high school students in a school in each, Unified medical examination by screening out the 293 overweight and obese children. In accordance with the standard 1:2, in the same school, with grades by gender, age students as a control group taking a total of 879. Using the combination of two ways to investigate which were self-administered questionnaire and physical examination. Results: Grade 4 students and above in Hefei in overweight or obese over the impact of factors that include the following aspects:1, Fathers of students overweight or obese group the prevalence of overweight or obese non-overweight and obese group and the father significantly different (χ2 = 9.66, P <0.05), father of overweight or obese is the primary risk factor for overweight or obese, OR = 1.56. Mother is also overweight or obese children and adolescents overweight or obesity risk factors (OR = 1.52).2, Parent education and school students overweight or obese unrelated (P>0.05); but family economic impact of overweight or obese (χ2= 31.17, P <0.05).3, Case group and control group selection in plain water when thirsty or drink (χ2 = 1.80, P = 0.41), and the types of beverages was not significant, but the amount of carbonated beverage consumption in the case group and control group differences (t =- 2.27, P <0.05).The number of daily meals, eating duration, dinner situation have relate to obesity or overweight.4, Physical activity time and the time of watching TV and online is the impact of factors of overweight and obesity. Patient group, the average daily physical activity time is less than the control group (t = 2.074, P<0.05), while the average time per week watching television online is indeed longer than the control group (t =- 2.287, P<0.05).5, Two groups the awareness of knowledge about nutrition was no difference in scores (t =- 0.71, P> 0.05)6, Fifth of the median method in case group and control group weight of various types of food intake analysis found noodles, beans and vegetable intake between the two groups was significant (P<0.05) .7, Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that affecting factors of overweight or obesity were: the father's BMI, family income and pasta intake. Conclusion 1, Parents size, family income, the number of daily meals, eating duration, dinner situation, taste,.physical activity time and the Internet were the affecting factors of overweight and obesity. 2, The type of selecting food and (or) intake could affect the overweight and obesity , such as the intake of carbonated drinks, pasta, beans and vegetable intake and so on. 3, Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that: family income, carbonated drink, vegetable, beans, meat, parent's BMI, eating dinner, dinner situtation and time incidence of overweight or obese students were significantly different. Objective Observe and assess the effect of intervention with nutrition, exercises, and health education on 9-18 year-old obese students. Methods 19 primary school students from Norkang Nutrition center Hefei. To intervene the subjects with dietary prescription, planed exercise and health education for 21 days. To compare and analyze the result of the weight and other physical indexes, then to assess the effect of the comprehensive intervention. Results In the intervention period, the body weight of the 19 subjects was downward trend and lost (7.27±1.72) kg, Before and after intervention, the different of weight was statically significant(t=18.45, P<0.001).Other obesity-related physical indexes were improved significantly, and the changes were statistically significant. Conclusion The effect of losing weight on simple obesity in primary and secondary students by synthesis intervention with nutrition, exercises, and health education is prominent .
