In foreign language teaching domain, people begin to realize that learner is the main body of foreign language learning. Thus, they put more emphasis on the learner-centeredness teaching method. However, it is important to realize that an emphasis on learner strategies and more learner responsibility in the classroom does not in any way put teachers out of work. Teachers' role in foreign language teaching especially in listening and speaking teaching should be more challenging.Combined with the study of teaching strategy including lesson-universal teaching strategies and lesson-specific teaching strategies, this thesis made a research on foreign language teaching of listening and speaking and discussed how to fully employ teaching strategies in listening and speaking teaching. Listening and speaking teaching is the most difficult and important aspect of foreign language teaching. On one hand, students think listening and speaking is so difficult for them that they have no interest in them. Therefore, we have so called "deaf and dumb" English nowadays. On the other hand, teachers lack the knowledge of teaching strategy and they can not use it perfectly. Under the guideline of teaching strategy and the study of factors that affect listening and speaking, the teaching models of listening and speaking and the relationship between listening and speaking, this thesis attempts to apply it to listening and speaking teaching.
