Machine tool manufacturing technology largely reflects China’s industrial level. With the rapid improvement of economy, market demands for machine tool is growing and requirements to technique are higher. Experts have been exploring how to improve the machine manufacturing craft and how to speed up machine manufacture. The focus of machine tool manufacturing in the stage of design. Improve the design efficiency is the key of shortening the manufacturing cycle.Parametric technology has more than40years’history since it was introduced and has been widely applied in every field of mechanical design. It provides more convenience for designers and more profits for producers. At present, though parametric technology is mainly applied in setting up part library, it has less application in whole machine design.This article from the perspective of virtual design of machine tool parts parametric design method was studied, focuses on parametric design methods for parts library, and suggests the parametric design methods for the whole machine based on global variable and assembly relation according to the existing research. which can not only shorten the cycle of machine design phrase, but also provide guidance to later manufacture.This thesis will start from parametric design for five-axis linkage CNC machine tools and choose the typical guide parts as the research object. In this paper, we use VisualC++6.0as a development platform for a secondary development of solidworks system to achieve guide parts parametric design. Moreover, this paper presents a thorough study of parametric design methods for machine tool parts based on parts parametric design, and suggests parametric design methods based on the assembly relation and size relation between the components and apply into the whole machine parametric design. This thesis mainly completed the following work:1, Have studied the key techniques of the parametric design of parts library. Have analysis the features in-depth of the design platform and design tools. Have chosen the most appropriate tools and laid the foundation for the follow design.2, In order to "guide" for example to study detailed of the library of parts parametric design method and steps. And comply the guide part library design through the program.3. Based on the part parametric design technique, study of parts parametric design technology, and make use of parametric design in machine tool.
