Due to the low the quality of the molten steel and the bad working environment of the workers, a RH vacuum processing device is built for the first steelmaking plant of Xinyu Iron&Steel Co. Ltd to improve the quality of molten steel and the environment of working.It is one key issue for the project to research and development of its control system.Firstly, the current situation and development trend of the automatic control system for vacuum processing device is described in the paper. Then, the main equipment and RH technic process of RH vacuum processssing device are analysed. Moreover, several subsystems of vacuum processing device such as feeding system, vacuum degassing system, vacuum sink system, etc are also analysed. Finally, based on the principle analysis of fieldbus, PLC and frequency control technology, a control scheme based on fieldbus and Siemens S7-400PLC modules is proposed.The vacuum pump control system, control system, feeding system, gun alloy steel machine system, bin system, lifting system and circulation system are detailed designed and described in the project. The hardware system and the software system are completed, and the remote operation and monitoring functions are realized. The actual operation shows the control system is practical and the design goal for the molten steel RH processing is achieved.This system is the first RH project for the company. It has accumulated rich experience for the following similar projects. Simutaneously, the development of the automatic control system will improve the quality of molten steel and efficiency of production, and achieve great economic and social benefit.
