As an important part of Chinese function words, the preposition occupies a pivotal positionin the Chinese grammar system. It is used frequently and widely used and the usages are rich andcomplex, which also constitute a major and difficult of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.In order to understand the situation how the learners of learning Chinese as a second language(hereinafter referred to as "learners")grasp common prepositions, first we select the commonprepositions from different materials. Then through consulting reference materials andinvestigating language data, we finally find out the Confusing preposition for Chinese learners.Through comparative analysis, we get the nuances of Confusing preposition, so as to identify thereasons why those prepositions are confusing for English learners. Also, I would like to exploreeffective teaching strategies for Confusing preposition. The body part of this paper is dividedinto the following chapters.The main idea of the introduction is: to determine research objectives, namely Confusingprepositions under teaching Chinese as a foreign language; a commentary of the researches onprepositions, Confusing prepositions and Confusing prepositions under foreign languageteaching. And to determine the scope of the study, which identified three teams of Confusingprepositions from the target materials.The first chapter concludes the discrimination of“对”“对于”and“关于”,namely thesimilarities and differences of the usages among the three prepositions. Then I analyze thereasons of the incorrect substitution among them. It is a core part of the paper.Chapter2makes an analysis of the similarities and differences of the two prepositions“为”and“为了”.Meanwhile, I analyze the reasons of the incorrect substitution among them.Chapter3makes an analysis of the similarities and differences of the other two prepositions“由”and“由于”.Meanwhile, I analyze the reasons of the incorrect substitution among them.The forth chapter summarizes the reasons of the incorrect substitution by learners based onthe distinction of these three groups preposition.The fifth chapter proposes effective teaching strategies based on the specific circumstancesof incorrect substitution errors and combined with the status quo of teaching prepositions inteaching Chinese as a foreign language.The last part is the conclusion.
