For a long time, traditional translation studies have advocated that translators should minimize subjective participation in the process of translation, and translators have always been in a marginal position. However, the cultural turn since the 1970 s has opened up a new perspective for translation studies. In the process of cultural turn, the translator's subjectivity is becoming more and more obvious, and it has attracted more and more attention at home and abroad. Therefore,it has become a hot issue in the field of translation studies.Hermeneutics is a theory of text interpretation, which provides a new theoretical perspective for translation studies.George Steiner introduced hermeneutic theory into translation studies and divided the translation process into four steps: trust, aggression, incorporation and compensation, each of which reflects the translator's subjectivity. This thesis takes George Steiner's hermeneutic motion theory as the theoretical framework. The author makes an analysis of the concept of translator's subjectivity in translation four steps, thus illustrating the importance of translator's subjectivity in the whole translation process. The case analysis part chooses the global best-selling novel The Storied Life of A.J.Fikry,focusing on the case study from the three aspects of cultural factors, vocabulary and sentences in the novel. In the part of translation example analysis, the author explains the translator's subjectivity in translation from the aspects of the translator's translation purpose, translation ability and cultural awareness.Through the above analysis,it can be concluded that the translator's subjectivity exists objectively in the process of translating literary works. The translator's subjectivity is an important factor in the process of translation.Giving full exert to the translator's subjectivity is a necessary guarantee for the quality of translation, and is helpful for the translator to understand the source text. However, the exertion of the translator's subjectivity is limited.Restricted by history, society and environment, the translator should respect the original text and not exert his subjectivity at will. This thesis is helpful to enrich translation studies and translation criticism, and also provides guidance for translators' translation practice.
