A Study On The Pronunciation Of Jvkoupu Dialect In Xinshao County,Hunan Province

Jvkoupu town is the jurisdiction of Xinhua County and Xinshao County successively.There is no clear conclusion in the academic circle on the dialect attribution of Jvkoupu and most scholars only classified Xinhua and Xinshao County dialects into Loushao dialect area belong to Xiang dialect.By making pratical research,the author finds some phonetic features of Jvkoupu dialect are the same as the law of phonetic evolution of Gan dialect,such as the ancient voiced initial consonants in Jvkoupu usually read as aspirated voiceless consonant when they prounced as plosive and africative;Dingmu and Toumu had been mixed as Laryngeal fricative “h”;the ancient Shangsheng and Qusheng of voiced initial consonants have partly become Yinping.In history,many immigrants from Jiangxi moved into Jvkoupu.The dialect(Gan dialect)brought by immigrants has excluded the local dialect(Xiang dialect)and become the main language in this area,however,in the long-term contact with local dialects,the immigrant dialect was inevitably influenced by the local dialect and finally evolve into Gan dialect with characteristics of Xiang dialect.So I choose Jvkoupu as an important research object.The paper described the phonetic characteristics of the dialect,explained some special phonetic phenomena,and compared to Xiang dialect and Gan dialect.Finally,it comes to the conclusion that Jvkoupu dialect belongs to Gan and can be classified into Dongsui dialect area.The paper is divided into five parts: The first part is an introduction,which briefly introduces the geography,history,population,language usage of Jvkoupu,and the present research on the dialect and the significance of this paper.The second part describes the phonetic system and relations between initial,final and tone.The third part compares Jvkoupu dialect with the mid-ancient phonetics,and summarizes the phonological characteristics of Jvkoupu dialect.It also analyses the law of mid-ancient entering tone’s evolution in Jvkoupu dialect.The fourth part discusses the literary reading and colloquial reading from three aspects of initial,final and tone,and analyzes the layers of literary and colloquial reading on some characters.The fifth part compares Jvkoupu dialect with Shaoyang dialect,Xinhua dialect,Dongkou dialect and Taihe dialect from three aspects of initial,final and tone,and uses statistical method to analyze the relationship between Jvkoupu dialect and Xiang,Gan dialect.On this basis,it makes the classification of the dialect and summarizes its unique phonetic characteristics.
