Survey Of Endemic Medicinal Seed Plant Resources In Taiwan

Objective:Taiwan topography, climate, special; contains a wide variety of plants, plants with medicinal value are also quite a number of unique species; this resource and do a systematic survey, in order to lay the foundation for further development. Methods:The combination of field survey and literature review to identify the families of each species, genera and species name; record the geographic distribution of key species, morphology, medicinal parts and function.Results:The preliminary estimate of Taiwan's endemic species are about 1254 kinds of plants; of which only 375 documented efficacy; commonly used about 100 species; has a lot of exploitation and circulation in the market for 50 species, only 4% of the total.Conclusion:The rich resources of medicinal plants in Taiwan has great potential for the development and utilization, but also need to pay attention to the protection of resources based on the sustainable use.
