The main body of this study is comprised of seven chapters: A Critical Consideration of Translation Practice and Theoretical Studies; Reflections on Translation Studies as A Discipline in Present-Day China; Academic Integrity and Academic Norms; Subjectivity, Intersubjectivity, and Ethics of Translation; Translational Strategies and Translation Criticism; Globalization and Cultural Identity. This study centers on some crucial issues to be addressed in Chinese translation studies:How to solve problems of "period study" of the theory, practice and history of translation in China? How to establish the theoretical frame of translation studies as a discipline in a reasonable way?How to redefine and reevaluate the Chinese tradition of the theory, practice and history of translation as a heterogeneous complexity rather than a homogeneous unity? How to smooth out the confliction between previous ideas and new ideas in translation studies? This study also covers most of the major concerns that are both practically and theoretically significant: translator's subjectivity, intersubjectivity, ethics of translation, politics of translation, ideobgy and translation, translational strategies, translation criticism, and cultural identity.Critical rethinking serves as the objective of this study when it deals with practical translation problems as well as theoretical issues. While its considerations are academic in the main, non-academic factors are not ignored.
