Ni Zan,was a part of the group of Chinese painters later known as the Four Masters of the Yuan Dynasty(including Huang Gongwang,Wu Zhen and Wang Meng).His arts personality combined with the special background forms a different aesthetical standard with that of Tang or Song Dynasty on untrammeled-class painting.His works show the artistic conception of Ioneness,vanity & silence and unromantic through simple ink painting and fully reflect his excellent character,all due to his good art cultivation.His refined painting style and superexcellent art achievements become not only different with other painters,but also the object that subsequent painters admired and copied.Chapter 1 mainly introduces Ni Zan's character,friend-making,background and life experience to discuss his life and moral quality as the representative of untrammeled-class painting in Yuan Dynasty.Then to discuss from the influence of life background in the turbulent situation in Yuan Dynasty on his philosophy of life and attitude to worldly affairs,to further know his moral quality and personality.The first half part of Chapter 2 mainly introduces his art source of "Three Great Thoughts-Confucianism,Daoism and Buddhism" based on Ni Zan's poems and others' comments on him,and analyzes what enlightened him in different life phases to improve himself moral cultivation;while the later half part mainly expatiates on the influence of untrammeled-class painting in Tang or Song Dynasty and literati painting in Song Dynasty on his art view and deep analyze the implied aesthetic thoughts in his art personality.The first half part of Chapter 3 clarifies the artistic conception,refined spirit and art source of "Three Great Thoughts-Confucianism,Daoism and Buddhism" and their relationship in Ni Zan's works.Meanwhile,the writer combines his own understanding with shaping to analyze the artistic conception,then analyzes his works in different phases to expatiate on the period of his moral quality becoming mature according to its showed painting attitude,mind status,shaping method and artistic conception change.Furthermore,through comparing his works with other contemporary painters' works, analyze his refined painting character different with other painters.The later half part mainly discusses his expression skills,which show his defined spirit and temperament. Firstly to summarize his study on traditional skills,observation on nature and art practice such as sketch,deep study his control,change and maturating on "alike in appearance" in his works,then based on the composition and brushwork characteristic shown in his works,analyze and judge of the level reached by his skills.Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 mainly introduce the influence of Ni Zan's painting style on art circles in Ming or Qing Dynasty and later landscape paintings in Korea.Chapter 4 specifies the painters' in Ming or Qing Dynasty studying on Ni Zan's painting style, explains his influence on art circles in Ming or Qing Dynasty through analyzing literatures and his works.Furthermore,to summarize the development process after the painters studied Ni Zan's painting style.While Chapter 5 mainly introduce the accepting process of Ni Zan's painting style for art circles in Korea later,introduce the development process after they studied Ni Zan's painting style according to Korean painters' poems and works.
