As one of most important category, the Art of Poster has been involved into the whole Chinese developing history. The history is dynamic, vivid and lively. If we could put the Chinese poster art works together, that would be the visual version of Chinese cultural and economic history. The research and reorganization of the Chinese poster art works will not only show the Chinese society in the past, even the society in the future. At the same time the poster art is a special communication way to exchange the thoughts, send information. The particularity of"medium"can be found in the creator's personal emotional expression, in strong visual representation and in lively magnetism. The all particularities are unique and irreplaceable. Accompanying the development of the science and technology, also the increasing of different media types, the post art are becoming from a"solo"medium to the multi media which possess divers formats and can transfer various information. Due to this transformation, the research and analysis about the"language","representation"and affection on society of Chinese poster art is no doubt very urgent.The history of Chinese poster art will be analyzed from different aspects in this dissertation which include the social background, reorganization of building-up history about the definition, the content and forms. During the analysis the variants of definitions, content's specific, representations'style and existence environment will be covered as relevant topics.I researched the history of Chinese poster art, embarked from the different social background, and reorganized the successional variation process from the concept and content of Chinese post art to its form.At the same time, I analysed the concept of poster art, its characteristics, form style, existence space etc.under the different social environment.This dissertation summarizes the specialized characteristics of Chinese poster art as follows the epoch related creativity, the agitation of propaganda, the nature of art, the multiplicity of skills and variousness of the media.The relations between poster, propaganda aimed poster, commercial and non-commercial poster will be re-catalogued and redefined according to the different epoch, the new definition"Pan–poster Art"will be concluded for the needing of the new times. I hope that this new definition will not only be helpful for the practice of education and the social applications, moreover I wish it could forecast the development's direction of the poster art.Even the concept of poster art has taken profit from the West; the Chinese poster art has completed its historical cultural exchange mission in such a way since last 100 years.The Chinese poster art has completed its historical cultural exchange mission in different ways since last 100 years, even the concept of poster art has taken profit from the West; Through the rethinking about the cultural"borrow"facts and the outlook of the poster art's future, this dissertation will relate to the following topics: the construction and improvement of the design education system, the investment and supporting of government, the function of value system which has been established by national and international exhibitions, the improvement of designers' quality, etc. With this systematic research of the Chinese poster art, and reorganization the basic develop line of the Chinese poster art, I hope that we can redefine its special function and position within the Chinese design culture. Through that maybe we can find the way to promote the cultural quality of Chinese design, even we can carry out more fruitful profit for the construction work of Chinese characterized socialism, in further to improve the cultural atmosphere of design and even could be helpful to enhance the quality of the whole nationality.
