In the history of Chinese ceramics, the "blank period" refers to a period of development of Jingdezhen’s porcelain industry in the dynasty, specifically the three dynasties of orthodoxy,Jingtai and Tianshun.Due to the lack of relevant documents, the lack of archaeological discoveries and the absence of official kiln age porcelain, the academia has long been unclear about the appearance of this stage of the porcelain industry,so it is called "blank period" or "dark period".With the important progress made in archaeological work related to the blank period porcelain industry in recent years, the number of related research and physical exhibitions has gradually increased, which has facilitated the conditions for further research on the blank period porcelain. In this paper,by using the multi-disciplinary research methods of art,Archaeology and cultural relics, taking the Ming Dynasty blue-and-white porcelain unearthed in Archaeology and collected in museums as the research object, and comparing with Yongxuan and Chenghua blue-and-white porcelain, the style of porcelain is deeply explored. The purpose is to solve the problem of style and dating of blue and white porcelain in the blank period, and to clarify the role of the blank period in the evolution of the style of porcelain in the early and middle Ming Dynasty. In this paper, there are two main parts to explore the blue and white porcelain in the blank period of Ming Dynasty. The first part first carries on the archaeological level analysis to the blank period porcelain relics unearthed from the Ming Dynasty imperial kiln site in Jingdezhen, preliminarily judges its formation process and specific age,and then carries on the style comparative study to the blue and white porcelain, including the shape, decoration, blue and white painting and so on.The second part takes the blank blue-and-white porcelain collected by museums at home and abroad as the research object. For some phenomena of blank blue-and-white porcelain represented by big pots and plum vases, the hypothesis that the Ming Dynasty blank period folk kiln produced the imitation to the normal style blue-and-white porcelain is put forward, and around what is the imitation to the normal style and whether the blank period folk kiln fired imitation to the normal style blue-and-and-white porcelain. In order to verify the validity of the proposition, the paper explores the problems of flower and porcelain.Based on the research of the first two parts, this paper also makes a preliminary analysis of the two issues related to the blank period of porcelain, namely, the issue of the "official-built folk-fired" in the blank period and the issue of the age of the production of blue-and-white porcelain.
