As a financial intermediation, multinational bank has been playing an important role in facilitating global economic growth for quite a long period. However, globalization, technology advancement and losen supervision-all this has greatly changed the environment of operation for multinational bank. Consequently, multinational bank is confronted with austere challenge from industry both within and without. Faced with increasingly drastic competition, multinational bank has to delvelop its core competence so as to obtain and keep its competitive advantages.Core competence is not only the foundation and the source of competitive advantages for an enterprise but a focus in the field of management research as well. Due to the different perspectives employed by the researches, a variety of theories on core competence have come into being. Such as Industrial Organization View, Resource-Based View, Business Model, etc. looking into those researchers' train of thought, we would find that the academic research on core competence is putting more emphasis on the factors within enterprises than on the factors outside. Furthermore, owing to the prick-up of the competition between enterprises and increasing uncertainty of the operational environment, knowledge is proved to be progressively important to the core competence of enterprises. Making full use of internal resources and establishing learning organization to improve the learning ability of an organization-both of these have turned into the essential approach for an enterprise to cultivate its core competence. Therefore, entering on developing the inner-based corecompetence has become the primary choice for multinational bank to look for their competitive advantages,As for multinational bank, the way to develop inner-based core competence can be various. Nevertheless, from the managerial point of view, cultivating inner-based core competence involes the following elements: environment of operation, strategy, organization, marking, culture of corporate, human resource, risk management and so on. It is in the light of the thought mentioned above that the strategies of developing the core competence for a multination bank is discussed in this thesis. The thesis includes twelve chapters. The outlines as follows:As for multinational bank, the way to develop inner-based core competence can be various. Nevertheless, from the managerial point of view, cultivating inner-based core competence involves the following elements: environment of operation, stragy, organization, marketing, culture of corporate, human resource, risk management and so on. It is in the light of the thought mentioned above that the strategies of developing the core competence for a multination bank is discussed in this thesis. The thesis includes twelve chapters.
