Virtual Enterprise (VE) collaborative production planning is essential for VE to operate effectively. Focusing around VE collaborative production planning, such issues concerning the VE architecture and process modeling, the task decomposition and assignment, resource planning, multi-agent negotiation based VE cooperation are studied in this thesis. Combining with the practical enterprise operation, a collaborative production management prototype system is built to support enterprise practice. The main opinions and research results are as follows.(1) Enterprise modeling is indispensable to describe, understand and improve VE behaviors. It is a systematic process instructed by enterprise architecture and methodology. According to VE characteristics, a three layered VE reference architecture and methodology (VERAM) is proposed. Basing on VERAM, VE function model, information model, organization model and resource model are built. According to the deficiency of current workflow technologies in scalability and dynamic cross-organizational interoperability, the agent technology is introduced in workflow management system. An agent enhanced workflow model in distributed VE with high scalability and high flexibility is established to support the cooperation between the partners of VE.(2) VE resource planning is a process of manufacturing resources quickly reconfigured into manufacturing chains. It is the organizational redesign for VE fast adapting to the ever changing market. We point out that two issues should be addressed concerning VE resource planning. That is VE production task decomposition and the matching between the tasks and enterprises. An approach of work breakdown structure (WBS) and product modularization is introduced to deal with the problem of task decomposition. Then the multi-agent planning method is lucubrated to realize the VE resource planning. A partial order means-end analyses recursive transition network agent planning method is presented. By giving an example, we illustrate how manufacturing requirements match resources automatically and form a VE manufacturing chain dynamically.(3) The multi-agent technologies and architecture are studied in thisthesis. An open heterogeneous multi-agent cooperation infrastructure designed for virtual enterprises is introduced. The implemental technologies as for agent communication, agent communication language and cooperation mechanism are discussed. A negotiation strategy model with learning ability is also proposed to describe the negotiation process of virtual enterprises. The model not only covers the negotiation strategies of the interactions between the VE manager and the partners, but also discusses the multilateral negotiation among the VE partners. Through the multi-stage negotiation, the VE coalition is formed. The coalition formation processes shows that VE can realize the goal of global utilization maximization and that the individual partner can achieve satisfied gains at the same time. The composition of VE not only lies on how VE manager selects the cooperative partners, the partners should also take into account whether to participate VE or not, and with which partners to form coalition.(4) After analyzing the characteristics and difficulties of VE, a three layered production planning system pattern which is composed of resources planning, rough project planning and detailed production planning is presented and fully described. According to the difficulties of draw detailed planning, a production planning model is put forward to realize the balance between the loads and capabilities. A heuristic solving algorithm to the model is also presented. Then we study the issue of collaborative planning from perspectives of within and among the VE partners.(5) Using Agent Oriented Programming (AOP) method, we develop a Collaborative Production Management Prototype System (CPMPS) for Meiling Co., Ltd. First we introduce the developing approach for CPMPS. And then we illustrate how to design the system by setti...
