Chinese In America And The Sino-US Relations Since 1980s

Chinese in America are the natural and indispensable medium of the Sino-US Relations. Generally speaking, the Sino-US Reltions influences the Chinese in America much more strongly than the Chinese in America against the Sino-US Relations. Since 1980s, with the fast growth of Chinese Americans' population, the remarkable increase of their economical power and the progressive rise of their social political status, they have realized that good Sino-US relations are very important for the Chinese in America to maintain and improve their rights and interests. So they try their best to influence the Sino-US relations.This Ph.D dissertation is dedicated to the research on the Chinese in America in the perspective of the Sino-US relations, comprehensively using the multidiscipline schools such as the method of history, sociology, nationality and international relations.Firstly, this dissertation reviews the historical development of the Chinese in America and the Sino-US relations, which are analyzed in three aspects: the link of the historical development between the Chinese in America and the Sino-US relations, the relations between the Chinese in America and their homeland, and their contribution towards the United States of America.Secondly, the dissertation analyzes the reasons that the Chinese in America pay more and more attention to the Sino-US relations, the influence and performance of the Chinese in America towards the Sino-US relations, the inner and outer factors that restrain the role of the Chinese in America towards the Sino-US relations, and the prospect that the Chinese in America influence the Sino-US relations.Finally, the dissertation analyzes the interaction of the Chinese in America and the Sino-US relations, and points out that the Sino-US relations influence the Chinese in America in macroperspective and the latter influences the former in microperspective, and the influence of the Chinese in America towards the Sino-US relations is the collective power of a lot of factors.
