Patriotism education is an educational practice with important theoretical and practical significance, which is an important part of ideological and political education.Patriotism education is not only the basic project which can improve the overall quality of the whole nation, but also important work which leads people to establish correct ideals, beliefs, philosophy of life and values and promotes the revitalization of the Chinese nation.The study of patriotism education using comparative method is still at the spontaneous state, but this paper makes up for it to a certain extent. This paper compares the similarities and differences in patriotism education between our country and the United States, one of the most developed country, and analyzes the successful experience in patriotism education of the United States. In order to provide the innovation of Chinese patriotism education with certain theoretical support This dissertation tries to innovate in the following respects.Firstly, making a systematic organization of the patriotism education after the May 4th movement of China and the American War of Independence and analyzing the characteristics of the two countries'patriotism education which are in the historical stage .Secondly, analyzing the reason why the two countries'patriotism education have both similarities and differencesFinally, coming up with the new method to innovate our patriotism education based on the successful experience of American patriotism education.This dissertation contains three parts. The first one is the introduction. The second one is the main body which is divided into six chapters. The following is the peroration. The main content of this dissertation is as follows:The introduction analyses the background, the significance and the status quo of the study on the compare of China and America's patriotism. It also analyses the difficult points , the innovation and the approaches of this study.Chapter 1 explains what is the patriotism and the education of it. The patriotism in this dissertation means people's deepest sensation for their own country , love and support for the state that accords with the historical development, the system of ideological concepts and social practice which are formatted because of the sensation. This concept is the combine of generalized and narrow patriotism. The patriotism has nationality, historicity and epochal character. This chapter is the theory base of this dissertation.Chapter 2 depicts and comments on the big things of China and America's patriotism education. First, it depicts and comments on the big things of China's patriotism education from the may 4th movement. The characteristics of the patriotism education in this period are: China's modern history is the history of Chinese nation's patriotism; the lead of CCP made the patriotism stride a new phase; patriotism began to combine with internationalism. Second, it depicts and comments on the big things of America's patriotism education. The characteristics of the patriotism education in this period are: American's patriotism education is the objective existence; it has the strong social adaptability and distensibility, it run through the free spirit.Chapter 3 analyses the status quo of China's patriotism education. The analysis is from three points: station and effect; objective, content and form; experience and lesson. The station and effect of patriotism education are: it helps to consolidate the dominant station of Marxism in the domain of ideology; it helps to lead the direction of advanced culture; it helps to stick to socialist theory with Chinese characteristics. The aims of patriotism education are: inspiring the national spirit, strengthening national solidarity; strengthening national self-respect and pride; strengthening the consciousness of national unity. The main contents of China's patriotism education are history education, traditional culture education, national condition education, national unity education, national defense and security education. Then this chapter analyses the main methods of our patriotism education from three points of family, school and society. The experiences of our patriotism education are: we pay a lot of attention to patriotism education and Marxism Leninism education, the contents of patriotism education are abundant, the methods of it are various. The lessons of our patriotism education are: the vividness and visualization are inadequate; it's contact with the reality is inadequate; the cooperate of family school and society is inadequate.Chapter 4 analyses the status quo of America's patriotism education from that three points too. The station and effect of patriotism education are: leading the main political culture, strengthening national cohesion. The aims or patriotism education are: doing the education from children, starting with the small aspects, paying attention to infiltrative education. The lessons of it are: pushing hegemonism that hurts homeland and the world, having the trend to narrow racialism and national chauvinism, the religion misleads the patriotism education.Chapter 5 is the contrast after analyzing of the status quo. It analyses the commonness and difference of China and America's patriotism education, then it analyses the reasons of it. The reasons of the difference are: China is a multinational country but American is a immigration country; the social systems are different; the culture and view of value are different.Chapter 6 analyses how to learn from America's good experiences and innovate our patriotism education. When learning from America, we should follow the principle of giving priority to our education and seeking truth from facts. The main methods of it are: strengthening citizen education, strengthening the construction of national culture, doing the education from children; strengthening infiltrative education and the cooperation of family school and society. When innovating our patriotism education, we should follow two principles: making it combine with inheritance and borrow. The methods of innovating are: bringing up the exoteric emotion, strengthening the global consciousness education and the rational education, strengthening the education of socialist key value system; widening the activity carrier of patriotism education, making the best of modern information net work technology.
