Patriotism, is the kind of deepest emotion, which formed by the people to their motherland from hundreds of thousands years, and become the unity of four kinds of the feeling which is consisted by the ascription, the approbation, the dignity and the honor to their motherland. It responds the relation between people and their motherland; also it is the regulation of morals request, political principle and law relation which adjusts between people and their motherland. Strengthening the patriotism education, not only can boost up national coagulation and centripetal force, promote to meet the demand of political stability and economic development, cultivate the youth to be the honest patriot, but also the demand of Self-sacrifice for the country's independence and prosperity. Therefore, the international communities all widely attach the great importance to the patriotism education, and become one of important contents of the political education item.This thesis takes patriotism education between China and America in university as the study topic, making use of the analytical method. Firstly, summarizing up the main clues of the two countries from the history point of view. Secondly, comparing the patriotism educational contents between China and America in university. Though there are some differences in politics, economy, culture and so on between the two countries, still existing some common grounds between them. For instance, they all strengthen national spirit education, historical tradition education, the state of the national defense and national security education. In the meantime, the differences of the contents are also very obvious, for example, the Chinese university emphasizes close combination of patriotism education and the passion for socialism education, but the American side pays attention to unify the patriotism education and citizen education. China pays attention to the time spirit education; however, America emphasizes achievement education. On the other hand, comparing educational method between them. They all pay attention to make use of various medium, the cultural facilities, the model person and the typical events to carry on the patriotism education, but America adopts comprehensive educational methods, which are more recessive; China adopts infusion educational methods which are more obvious. Furthermore, the Chinese universities pay attention to a society fulfillment, but the American universities value religious educational. At the same time, we should also combine ages development, deepening the patriotism contents continuously, actively drawing lessons the valid ways from the American universities, improving and enriching our patriotism educational ways,and this is very important and has the realistic meaning for promoting our patriotism educational practice.
