The sport universities and institutes are one type of universities and colleges, which have the unique function in the higher education structure system; not only in promoting the development of sports enterprise, but also in constructing comprehensively the well-off society, which has the indispensable function. At the turn of the century, the Chinese higher education management system has been carrying on the significant adjustment, the sport universities and institutes, because of its particularity, still maintained independent establishment. It is not only the urgent need of the society and the sports enterprise development, but also the rule of running school of higher education to manifest specifically. In order to reform and consummate the sport universities and institutes, we have to attach importance to the research on the characteristic and model of running the sport universities and institutes in China. The characteristic and model of running the sport universities and institutes are the most essential and crucial problem. On the basis of the former researches, this paper , from the new angle of view, has tried to do the researches, taking the relationship between academicness and athleticness as a master line, to discuss the model of running sport universities and institutes which revolves the unification of academicness and athleticness , including the construction about the teaching, the training, and the research (abbreviation"three-in-one connection"). In the research we always close the subject which is the development of higher education and the sports enterprise, as well as pay attention to the connection of theory and practice, the connection of qualitative and quota, the domestic and overseas connection. Meanwhile, we should pay equal attention to both the system reorganization and the discussion question, and both theory elaboration and real situation narration. The characteristic of running schools reflect the nature and the attribute of the school, whose formation and development will be influenced by many factors. From the ancient to today, from the domestic to the overseas, the basic fact of university development shows that academicness is the essential attribute of any college and university, the inherent logic power of accelerating the development and reform in the universities, the basic direction of the school localization and development. Athleticness is fundamental attribute of sport, and athleticness is the important content and specific form of sport. Athleticness reflects the request and tendency of sport development, and become the core of the modern sport. The unification between academicness and athleticness is the theory and the practice foundation of the survival and the development of the sport universities and institutes .The principal contradiction and the contradictory principal aspect, in the category, are always transforming unceasingly in along with the development of society. If the sport universities and institutes do not have academicness , they are not the true universities, and haven't got the basis of the school existence yet. If the sport universities and institutes do not have athleticness , they are not the true sport universities, and haven't got"sport"school necessity in existence. If we solve the dialectical unification of the academicness and athleticness, we can grape the running school characteristic of the sport universities and institutes. The running school model is the specific manifestation of the running school characteristic, as well as the standardized structure shape and movement mechanism, which the schools form. The running school characteristic of the sport universities and institutes reflects directly the school model, including connection among the teaching, the training, and the research. The teaching and the research are the specific manifestation of academicness, then the training is the concrete reflection of athleticness . The running school model among the teaching, the training and the research has not only reflected the running school characteristic about connection both academicness and athleticness, but also become the remarkable symbols and comparable superiority to distinguish the sport universities and institutes from the colleges and universities. The teaching, the training and the research have already the profound inner link, but also have the obvious relative independence. In the development of the sport universities and institutes, the three of them have their own concrete goals and duty. When they complete their task, the method is used in different forms, and the adaptation object and the degree have been stressed. The running school model focuses on the teaching, the training, and the research as a whole, which has fully reflected the connection between academicness and athleticness. The teaching is the foundation of the "three-in-one connection", the training is the key of "the three-in-one connection", and the research is the guarantee of "the three-in-one connection". During the different historical development stage,the content and form of the "three-in-one connection"are different,the connotation and outside meanings of the "three-in-one connection"have been changing. The connection among the teaching, training and research is resolving the contradiction and the conflictunceasingly in the connection, and overcoming unceasingly each kind of question foundation in the connection, and realizing the development dynamical equilibrium of sport universities and institutes. The implementation of the model of "the three-in-one connection" involves the question about universities and institutes localization, classified instruction, different combining site, and many kinds of union forms. The Chinese sport universities and institutes have been passing through 50 years, to analyze their foundation and the evolutes winding process, according to exploring the different performance way in the connection of teaching, the training and the research, we try to grasp the focal point which is the running school characteristic of sport universities and institutes, however, in the theory and practice, we have not been able to processes appropriately the relationship between academicness and athleticness , it is natural to be unable to realize the organic synthesis among the teaching, the training, and the research. We choose US, Japan, Australia and Russia to analyze, the model of running school is quite different about these four countries. Because of the higher education of four countries is developed, as well as the higher sport education is also outstanding. Moreover, these four countries have affected greatly the origination and the development of the Chinese sport universities and institutes in different time. In the historical stage of establishing comprehensively the well-off society, the new management system is implemented by the sport universities and institutes, the 2008 Olympic Games will be held by China in Beijing, the sports enterprise lies in the rapid developing historical period, the sport universities and institutes are facing the opportunity and the challenge to develop. Moreover, we should know and grasp the running school characteristic and model of the sport universities and institutes, it is very important for us to deal with the relationship between academicness and athleticness, the relationship among the teaching, the training, the research, the relationship between the learning from abroad and the independent exploration, and the relationship between adaptation reality and the surmounting reality relations. We can get this idea not only from the history of the sport universities and institutes, but also from the request of reality practice, moreover, meeting the need of future.
