The recent years have witnessed the research on National South—West Associated University becoming a heated topic in scholarly enquiry, particularly in a historic perspective. Although these studies are diverse in discipline domains, there is limitation. Few studies pay attention to such critical dimensions as academic development history and societal history. Aiming at bridging the gap, this thesis focuses on educational history, academic history, and societal history of National South-West Associated University, and intersection and interaction of societal history, academic history, and educational history. This research uncovers the interaction phenomenon and mechanism between education and academic research in National South—West Associated University. Furthermore, the researcher explores the significance and implications of symbolic relation between education and academic research by in-depth case study on the National South-West Associated University.There are six chapters. Chapter one explains for research current situation, the aim and value of the study, visual angle and method, the structure of thesis, innovation of thesis.Chapter two describes the development of academic ideas in the historic and societal environments.
