Since the enrolling of the doctoral candidates in Physical Education in 1987, we have made great progress in the cultivation in the number of the doctoral candidates. Compared with the USA, We have more shortcomings, such as: enrolling system, degree instauration, course setting, subject construction, scientific administration and the ways of the tutor selection. In order to improve the level and realize international cultivation of the doctoral candidates in Physical Education, The purpose of the study was to provide theorical and reformal reference for our courtry in the cultivation of the doctoral candidates in Physical Education.Review, questionative investigation, specialist-talking and statistics, comparative method were used here. Through seriously research, following conclusions were as follows:Firstly, Compared with the cultivation of the policy and aim between China and USA, the policy in USA is independent according to the situation of different state, The main idea were composed of"Individual standard","knowledge standard","social standard","international thought". In controling policy, it was separative, marketing-oriented, both in private and public school cultivation.Secondly, in cultivation system, the Chinese doctoral degree had only one kind, while it was various in USA in PE, China emphasized the government tendency, while it is emphasized by market demand, lack of system in the cultivation direction, the range of research was very extensive in USA. It emphasized ability cultivation. 3 years were required for Chinese doctoral candidates, there was no time limit in USA, it depended on the courses, pass the qualifying exam and the high quality dissertation.Thirdly, in the course of cultivation, one year was required to get credits in China, curriculum time is between 26-28hrs, while in USA, student studied courses for over two years, curriculum time was between 46-98hrs, selective subjects were much more than that in China and there were many kinds of teaching methods. We usually could graduate in three years, while there were no time-limit in USA.Fourthly, There was qualifying exam in USA and it is also very strict. A lot of students have been eliminated, but there was not in China. The dissertation has been chosed by myself in china, but which selected by the tutor in USA.Fifthly, The doctoral degree dissertation in USA must be sent to the library a month ago before the oral dissertation defense and emphasized the publishing value; While it needn't in China.Sixthly, The budget in dissertation was rich in USA, which included government pecuniary aid, national science funds and every kind of cooperation research funds, contract research etc, But threr was only government pecuniary aid in China.Seventhly, The guiding committee was composed of teaching and researching section in China. But in USA, the guiding committee was made up of professors, which involved each aspect on their dissertation. In the course of the tutor election, it depended on the scientific budge, doctoral degree and the lowest requirement for the post in USA.
