Research On The 5S Learning Support Model In Modern Distance Education

Modern distance education develops with modern information technology in the information era. It plays a very important role in satisfying learning requirements, popularizing education resources, making equal access to education come true, to construct learning society.The basic premise character of modern distance education is that "the action of teaching and learning is separated in time and space," and so, the process of teaching and learning is divided in two sections: the first part is resources development, and the second part is learning support. The practice of modern distance education proves that learning support is very helpful in ensuring learning conditions, perfecting teaching links, and guaranteeing teaching qualities.This research is based on the theory of intersubjectivity, the theory of constructivism, the theory of re-integrating, teaching and learning and system methodology. It clarifies the basic issues such as the relationship between teachers and learners in modern distance education, the study psychology of the distance learner, the process of distance teaching, and the constructing of distance education system. This paper tries to construct the learning support model.Five elements construct the learning support model. They are Students, Supporters, Substance, Strategies, and Surroundings. Among them, Students are the center in the model. Supporters continuously integrate Substance and Strategies, cooperating the learning support requirements in specific Surroundings. This model is the "5S learning support model of modern distance education". When the model runs, it adjusts the relationship of five elements through the feedback mechanism, the dynamic mechanism and the coordination mechanism, to guarantee the learning support qualities."5S learning support model" is a theory model based on multiple theories. It can direct how to design elements in a learning support system, how to design operation mechanism for a model. When we use the "5S learning support model" to compare with kinds of learning support practice patterns such as the public-service-pattern, the online-service-pattern, and the learning-center-pattem, we will find many kinds of differences. So "5S learning support model" is also a model that we can follow it to change and consummate our practices.The research of "5S learning support model" broadens the angle of view of learning support research, consummates the constitution of learning support system, and breaches the using of deductive method in learning support model research. "5S learning support model" can be followed, be copied, and be developed. It will be good for the developing of learning support in modern distant education.
