Comprehensive Predominance Evaluation Of Mineral Resources In The Western Region Of China

It is well known that the exploitation of mineral resources plays an importantrole in economic development and social progress. But how can we make full use ofthe mineral resources? Which factors will affect the development and exploitation ofthose mineral resources? And how should we make an overall planning anddisposition? To help improve the above situation, the paper has particularly analyzedthe external conditions, the regional geological setting and the distributioncharacteristics of mineral resources in the 10 major areas rich in mineral resources.Based on the collection and analysis of the resources data, this paper adopts the AHPand Delphi technique and studies the Predominance Evaluation of mineral resources.The indicator system and conceptual model are built and suggestions on thedevelopment and utilization are given. The potential values of the 22 major mineralsare also calculated. The potential value of coal takes up 84.7 percent of the west' total.And the total potential value of the 22 major minerals of Inner Mongolia, followed bythat in Shanxi (21.0%), Xinjiang (12.9%), Guizhou (8.6%) and Sichuan (8.4%), runsup to 31.9 percent of the west' total.For the first time, this paper has evaluated the exploitation predominance of the10 major areas rich in mineral resources. The potential value of the mineral resourcesis calculated, the current situation of minerals economic development, explorationtechnology, social demand and environment influences caused by mineralsdevelopment and utilization are analyzed and suggestions on the exploitation aregiven.The research has not only supplied a gap about the predominance Evaluation ofMineral Resources in the 10 major areas rich in mineral resources but give referencesto further comprehensive assessment, provide service for the government to make theexploration, development, utilization of preponderant mineral resources, andenvironmental protection policies and plans. It also helps to promote mineralsmanagement, enhance the efficiency of exploitation and utilization in the westernregion.
