Metropolitan agriculture is generated accompanying the modern industrializing and the rapidly urbanization. It's the product of high level of society and economy development in world metropolis. It means that modern agriculture has become the inner need of the modern metropolitan civilization, and it reflects one kind of new thinking about the agriculture development in new era under the highly level of metropolitan economy.Along with our country's rapid increasing in economy, the pace of urbanization is continuously quickened, and the research on the theories and the practices of metropolitan agriculture firstly began in the developed areas in east China in 1990s. Now, it's still a new research field in China, It studies the development of agriculture and the rural area of the metropolitan regions, emphasizes the interactions between the urban development and the agriculture, attaches importance to the cognition and the exploiture of the integrated functions of agriculture in the course of urbanization. With the more practices and the deeper cognition on metropolitan agriculture, its ecological function and social function of will show more and more importance to the urban development. Therefore, the systemic research on the metropolitan agriculture and rural area in metropolitan regions, including its growth of the theories and the practices in China and its advanced experiences from overseas, searching for a suitable way to the sustainable development for metropolitan agriculture and rural area in our country's metropolitan regions, will take on very important significance in constructing new rural area in our country.This thesis consists of three parts, that is, the theories sum-up, the overseas and domestic experiences and the case study of Shanghai. It includes eight chapters. The main content in each chapter is as follow.Chapter One: IntroductionIn this part, the concept and the meaning of metropolitan agriculture is studied, the research status quo in China and overseas has been reviewed. Then the framework and the main content of this thesis are summarized.Chapter Two: The Development of the Modern Metropolis and the Generating of the Metropolitan AgricultureFirstly, from the angle of history, the development of the modern metropolis and the generating of the metropolitan agriculture have been reviewed, and it concludes that the generating of the metropolitan agriculture is the result of three dimension integrations of the area integration, the economy integration and the administration...
